I'm thinking of doing something with the 20 or so guardsmen I have and adding them as renegades to my chaos army. I;m having trouble deciding what paints to use to paint them in a renegade manner that is nurgle based. Can you please suggest a colour scheme that looks nice and or post pictures of your own renegades? Thanks in advance.
Well what you can do is paint the fatigues in a standard imperial camo maybe give it a couple heavy washes with devlon mud to make it look really dirty and then paint the armor the same color as the rest of your army, but make it look like they just painted over the original colors with some drybrushing.
Thats what a guy did to his renegades for his tzeentch army and it looked pretty good.
I second the heavy use of washes. I'd also make the faces really pale and perhaps use some red or green washes on them to give them a sickly look.
And since you're going for a Nurgle theme, i'd also green stuff on some random rotting on the arms and use little balls as pustules on the faces. It should not be a lot of work and I think it will look quite nicely.
You could also try painting the mark of chaos on the armor pieces, as long as you have a steady hand it shouldn't be to difficult. Good luck
