other-please state what you think would be a good idea
Ive been thinking about this like most BA players have probably thought about it at some time now basically im just after some input into setup and what you think would be best twinned with three of these lovely machines.
im thinking take astorath to get three death company (only one with packs to fit astorath into) with a chaplain each on foot (11 DC 1Chappy) with a death dred each and getting in the opponents face
now is this viable or just likely to end in tears??

If i attempted this, scratch building three storm ravens would definately end in tears.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
it might do for me im fairly competent at converting and the likes my green stuff is pance but plasticard and foam card is ok , im just waiting on the girlfriend to tur my drawing that looks like my two year old did it to something that resembles an adults drawing
i rock my world
Running insanely expensive AV12 vehicles as your do or die is not viable in my opinion. They'd hit like a sack of bricks but how often will they hit? IG, Tau, 'Nids, some Marines, hell even Orks would have a few of those things grounded pretty quickly.
I think Ravens are best used as a different Land Raider. You run one, it heavily distracts from Rhinos, which are what carries the day. They aren't the same as IGs gunships, which are cheaper and have the massive advantage of Outflanking to get where they need to be and first shots.
Sidenote: Why are so many people using oriental bikini models as avatars? What's up with that?

I think this army depends far to much on weather you get first turn or not. If you do then you stand a good chance of causing some pain, if not, your asking for a kicking.
You've also got to remember when the guys get out you've got no control where any of them go. Yea they'll probably kill whatever they touch but could sill be led astray and isolated. None of the units are scoring either which could pose problems.
..........got a masters degree in kicking ass and taking names
i think the key to this is you can assault out of them if you dont deep strike i kinda figured if i got second turn to deep stirke them try and open a small can of whoop ass when they deepstrike and hope everything survives the enemys return fire so they can assault next turn barebones points wiseits like 1500 points so id still have a fair bit of RAS on the board in razorbacks i think it would be fun though especially if i get first turn and move and fire pretty much everything then let the boys jump out and do there work...
oh and i dont know where the girly picture came from it appeared one day and i left it
i rock my world
Okay.. So we're looking at... 2k++? And you have.. 3 models to move around with?
Astorath - 220
2x Chaplain - 200
10 Death Company - 200
2x 11 Death Company - 440
3x Death Company Dreadnought - 375
- Heavy Support:
3x Storm Raven - 600
And this is with no gears on Ravens and DC (Hidden powerfists are must have)..
I don't like it.. If you place your model on the board and even one get shot down then you effectively lost one third of the army.. Two get shot down and winning the match will be more than just a struggle. You'll really be relying on that first turn to actually get to the enemy.
If you DS then you will come in at random, at best they'll all come in on the same turn (not likely), and even if this happens the enemy will most likely get to shoot down one or two.
Reserving and turboboosting 24" on to the board seems like the best shot.. But still a long shot..
Also.. No scoring units and no FOC to add some even if you wanted in a 2500pts game.
I'm sorry, but I'd never run a list like this and I do not consider it viable (if by viable we mean competitive)..
This might be a fun army to play a few times, but it's a bit of a one-trick pony and you don't have much control over your army. I don't think it'd be terribly fun to play with consistently, but each their own.
As for viability, I have to agree with what other posters have said. The power of a LR or Stormraven is to be a distraction. You force the opponent to concentrate on them, allowing the rest of your army to operate more freely, or face the wrath of whatever you've got hidden inside. Including multiples just dilutes the power of the "rest of your army" that you're opening up with the distraction. That and the fact that Stormravens are squishier than Land Raiders by a fair margin and they seem even less viable than multiple Land Raider armies.
I think the Stormraven is more or less a one-or-none type of selection. I wouldn't build a list around them. Fill one with a beatstick unit like kitted DC or Honor Guard with an HQ and a dread, force your opponent to deal with them as you get your Rhino/Razorback rush pouring the meat of your army forward unabated. Or, they go for your army and you get to deploy a sledgehammer against the opponent with surgical precision.
