Although it is nice to have the new Russ & Rocket kits I would much have preffered a new Artillery kit that would have enabled a Griffon, Medusa, Colossus interchangable build. So my question is other than the costly Forgeworld kits what do people do to represent these?
The manager at one of my local games stores has made a very passable Colossus out of a Basilisk kit, plasticard and many of the cannon parts from the Shadowsword. Although I am building a Stormlord and will have the same parts left over I don't intend building 3 Stormlords so a uniform Colossus battery is not possible without begging bits from other lord building guard players, if I can find any. Any ideas & pictures appreciated?
I've seen great ones made from Basilisks as you said, I personally use a Whirlwind. No one gives me any crap because, well there's no actual kit and a Basilisk is like $50, while a Whirlwind is $35. Performs pretty well as a Colossus, Griffon and Medusa, which is all I'd need as Basilisks are awful.
Check my Blog for Battle Reports, useless ranting and more! Comments appreciated.

I built a nice Medusa/Colossus using a Baskilisk kit as a starter, cut off the barrel and replaced it with some cardboard tubing and an adapter from a model rocket kit. It looks fine and I was able to hide all the mistakes with a scratch built enclosed top and camo netting.
If you want to use Stormlord barrel you could always buy some on a bits site.
I'm planning on scratch building one one of these days. I like the forge world one, but I was contemplating adding some extra stuff onto it like hydraulic stabalizers (ie like you find on industrial machinery)...but I'll see how it goes. My mentality is that if/when they come out with an actual colosus model I want to like mine more so I don't toss out my hard work in favour of the GW version . I'm happy with my manticore conversion so far, and I'm hoping that this works for the rest of my converions. However, this can be a very time consuming mentality if you put a lot of work in. When I do build one, I will probably just start with a chimera hull and go from there.
