Blood Lance w/ Furioso Dread tactic usuable?

How feasible is it to, when you have the first turn and 3+ drop pods in you army, to drop pod 2 Furioso Librarians each with a Blood Lane and the 5+ cover save psychic powers at each end of your enemy's deployment area where he more than likely has his vehicles in a nice straight line?

Something similar to this but with vehicles not as perfectly align, but still able to get the job done.

    FL V R LR R V FL

FL: Furioso Librarian V: Vindicator R: RHino LR: Land Raider

Would drop the the FLs on each side to ensure everything gets, maybe twice, and hopefully far apart from one another as to not hit each other as well.

A friend went against a SM player with his BA in a 1500 last night, and looking back, if he did something like this, he would've easily crippled the enemy.

It just seems like a great tactic to to catach your opponent off guard with because he'll be forced to move forward possible exposing back armor to one of the FLs, or one of your units on you side of the bard, in order from getting lanced again.

Notable Achievements: Farseer w/ SS taking down a Monolith all by itself in one shooting phase. A Warlock w/ SS in a Guardian squad on an objective taking down a Soul Grinder in one Shooting phase. 2nd turn 2 DSing Trygon Primes going from 6-0 wounds during turn 3.

Ina perfect world this is crippling to anyones army. You just have to get lucky enough to have the person deploy in that mannor. If you get everything off you have a good chance of getting 2 pins on the outside vehicles. Personally I worry about the survivability of the dreads. But the idea is sound as long as you pop those 2 outside vehicles it is worth it to me.

True. In a perfect world, it would be fantastic. Luckily in our group of players, our friend who plays Orks, IG, and SM plays them very similar for the most part which usually involves him sitting back and shooting with squads with heavy weapons and vehicles in them.

If anything, getting wrecked in this manner would completely turn his world upside down, and force him to play his armies much differently. Or at least we'd hope it will.

i would say its ok but meh. Bloodlance aint all that great, as itsa shootingattack and until its faqd secondary units get a coversave. Now if it was worded differentlythen maby. dont forget it also relys on the random distance, so i wouldnt put too much stock in them, nevermind 2. and at near 200pts each, 400 total its an expensive ploy, that likely wont pay out.

This is actually concerning since I and my friends typically deploy our tanks side-by-side in this manner, albeit usually with some space between them to account for blast weapons. It's typically because they take up so much space and we don't want one tank getting in the other tank's LOS. I usually only do it when I have the first turn, since if I'm going second I place them more defensively, but I could easily imagine my opponent seizing the initiative and doing things that way.

If nothing else, the scariest part is that the "ploy" isn't even a ploy; having two FL with anti-tank weapons is a perfectly sound strategy for most circumstances. There's no real downside. If your opponent deploys his tanks in a line, you destroy him. If he doesn't, you can just drop them somewhere else where they have a rear armour arc and probably take out two vehicles anyway.

Bloodlance aint all that great, as itsa shootingattack and until its faqd secondary units get a coversave.
I would actually dispute this, although there's no obvious answer, but I don't want to get bogged down in that here.

I've been considering making a thread about that, actually. I don't remember seeing one, and it's definitely an arguable power.
