In the end I picked up the Terminator box, using them as an allied HQ (Am I correct in that allied HQ use up force organisation slots?) under the lead of a Grand-Master
now I was wondering, the faq shows an example of a retinue purchasing the Holocaust giving the hero the chance to buy an additional psychic power.
If I do this, who acts as the focus for the Holocaust then, since they both (GM and retinue) may use a psychic power, and the GM can't use 2 powers a turn?
And a couple of smaller questions
First: If the GM purchases word of the emperor, what is a turn: ie can you use Word of the emperor in your opponents turn and the force weapon in yours or is that still one turn (if your opponent went first at start of the battle)
Second: How should I best kit out my Grand-Master, I want him to have a psychic power and really liked Word of the Emperor, and wanted Holocaust for the retinue, but for as far as options goes, I don't really know what's worth taking, I'd like kitting him out fully (ie 100 points but I'm lost on how to do this )
I'm sorry for troubling you guys but maybe some of you have some time spare to answer these questions?
If the GM gets a perils of the warp for his own power only he takes the hit, but if you roll perils for the retinue's holocaust the entire unit takes hits.
Holocaust perils are only regular S5 hit though, so you get your armour saves.
It also prevents you from taking hammerhand, so keep at least one thunderhammer in your retinue if you are facing any dreads (especially the AV13 variety)
A psy-hood can be useful against many forces. Psycannons are also popular with the GM's high BS score. Icons are a fair few points for one point of saves so think it over, but remember that behind his retinue the GM is a non-eternal T4 character.
Incense is fantastic against chaos forces (including marines), unguents combine with the effects of psyhoods/aegis against strong psychic armies, and finally master crafting can help get the most out of your close combat.
thx AT, that's what I was looking for
