okay so ive got a 1000pt tournie comming up and was wanting to know what your guys thought of this list:
MOTF - Power Weapon
4 x Servitors
Dread, ML + TLLC
Tac squad x 10 (combat squaded) ML, MG, PF
Tac Squad x 10 ML, PG, melta bombs
Scout biker squad x 3, all with GL, cluster mines
the basic idea is my combat squad stays on home objective, with the deads and MOTF advancing up the center, the rhino and razor going up one flank , the scouts going up the other side (mainly as a distraction, but if the opposition ignores them i have no objection to rapidfiring the krak grenades into rear armour)
now im thinking of replacing the bikers with another dread, with ither TLLC or MM (once i have the model) for the meantime however they will have to do.
ill list some models i have but arnt using for potential replacments:
10man scout squad all with ccw&bp sarg with PF
7 man assualt squad
5 sanguinary guard
1 captain with JP (pw or relic blade)
17 terminators (5 assualt, 12 shootie 2ac's 2 hf's)
and in the next week or so i have comming:
1 LR crusader
10 ccw&bp marines sarg with PF
5 more assualt marines (sarg with PF)
10 grey knights
4 sniper scouts, 1 ML scout
3 Land speeders 2 x AC&HB, 1 x HB&(MM HF or AC)
1 dread with TLLC
so any thoughts?
I can think of one obvious one... buy a vindicator XD
They are easily the best, and most gorgeous, tank the we space marine players have at our disposal
WORSHIP THE VINDICATOR!!! (And a Drop Pod full of Combie-Melta Sternguard never hurts either)
i most definatly I agree vindies are awesome but my prefered HQ would be either the termie chap or the captain or maybe the liberiun but definatly don't go for sanguinary guards I don't even nkow why you got them inthe fisrt place?nice models but no!.when I played against them in a tounarment my first turn I wiped 4 out of 5 and I only shot at them with my 1 squad. Maybe also you could put your ten man scout squad in for me scouts do quite well. As mujch as I like termies the to expensive for a 1000 pts match. if you got your land speeders in tim replace them for your dreadnaught I know the ones fast attack and the other elite but the point you got one dreadnaught thats good enough.and also I dont think you can put a ten man tac squad in a razerback?
i would never put a sang guard in a 1000pt list, dont worry. (bought them for the models not the game) as im more of a painter than a gamer.
vindicators are an option as i can get one cheap and have the old metal parts to turn my rhino into one!
no a tac squad cannot fit into a razor, but with combat tactics 5 can...
the thing with the termie chap at this points level is he would be all by himself, no transport or synergy with my army (as im almost 100% shooty). same goes for my captain as hes a cc jp equiped guy in an army of dreads and transports!
id consider swapping my MOTF for the librarian, but i dont know what spells to get him (he will most likely be riding in the razor) any ideas guys? plus with 5 lightish armoured vehicles the motfs repair ability comes in usefull.
again the scouts have served me well in the past but i find it hard finding a role for them in this shooty army. (at 1500 pts i use them to tele in my termies)
any more thoughts?
Conversion beamer on the MotF.
Swap the Rhinos for Razorbacks with either assault cannons or twin linked lascannons. Feill these with the combat oriented combat squads and park the missile launchers in cover. Let the MoTF be near them to repari if need be.(This is with keeping the MotF). Powerfist, flamer, missile launcher may be the better tac squad set up.
Drop the bikes, turn one of those dreads into a venerable in a pod. Probably with Assault Cannon and Heavy Flamer.
Theory here is to drop the venerable dread right on top of his army to you shoot/flame/smash a diversion. Soften their slowed advance. When they get close, rhino and tac shoot/assault.
Just my thoughts on what I would do.

Personally, I take a Librarian when building an all-comers list. I usually pick Null Zone and Curse of the Machine Spirit. My libby immobilised a Land Raider Redeermer in the middle of the board once - maybe that was lucky, all the same you will be facing lots of armour in 5th Ed! - and Null Zone can mean the difference between a dead Daemon Prince and a living one.
Personally I would not take a MotF in 1000 points, especially with 4 servitors. These crucial points could be spent on something else to help flesh out your army.
As for the Land Speeders, they are a beautiful model and unit to play with. The two load outs I use for mine are MM/HF @ 70 points, or the HB/TML @ 90 points. I usually take just one of each (but this is suited to my list in particular).
Hopefully I've given you something useful to consider - remember to always play test your list a couple of times before the tourny!
edit: I see you have a fair amount of incoming models - I don't know if its too late, but I would strongly recommend investing in a Land Speeder Storm. Fill it wit h scouts with combat blades, and I give the Sarge a PF and combi-melta. I chuck a HF on the Storm. The flamer is not affected by the low BS of the Storm, and the Sarge has the standard marine BS so the combi-melta is great. This is, hands down, the most consistently well performing unit in any list I make!

cheers for the advice, ive playtested my initial list twice and dont like the scout bikers, or how much my motf does (damage wise) so have come up with this list.
ive kept a techmarine (the amout of times my motf has repaired my dreads weapons) plus repairing a demolisher cannon on a vindi can cause serious morale damage to the oponent.
any suggestions on this list? the only thing im 50/50 on is a landspeeder or the techmarine?
