How do you deal with dark eldar?

well i had a game against a mech dark eldar player with about 8 raiders(transports) and 2 ravagers(tanks) with 5 warrior squads,2 wych squads and a archon with 4(?) incubi. I was utterly destroyed it wasnt even fun :'(. It all went to crap on turn one and I went First! my dread podded in nicely and pen his ravager but then i rolled a 1 . my terminators and librarian goi to a nice choke hold spot and scatter 12 inches to the nearest boardedge. they were just one inch out . then on his turn dread went poof, tactical squad takes 4 casualties and runs off its lascannon vantage point, and predator is out of range due to some army special rule. then it got EVEN WORSE when on 4 one single round of combat 15 marines went poof. the only good things that happened were my sternguard sweeping a wych squad in combat and my predator blowing up a raider, killing the entire squad inside and annihilating all but one member of a nearby squad. at least i got the last laugh

so what do you guys do against these evil space elves?

There was a topic of the week on this topic, which should give you some ideas on how to deal with Dark Eldar (link at the bottom of the post). One big thing to remember about them though, is do not split up. This is the easiest way to give them an advantage, they can use their speed to capitalise on every opening, if you keep your units togeather and one falls there will be others to deal with the enemy.

Take cheap, shooty units. Don't take expensive assault units. You don't really want to get into cc with DE, especially their HQ and wyches. Then pray you go first and blast them to smithereens before they get a chance to go flat-out for the cover save. Otherwise, you're done for.

Note: DE are good against Marine-armies but usually tend to have problems against mechanized Imperial Guards, Mechdar, Tau or Space Wolves Rune Priest/Long Fang-spam.

I typically find that the best approach is the simple approach - there is very little in the Dark Eldar inventory that won't crumple under as many bolter rounds as you can muster.

My anti-DE build consists of plenty of plain Tactical Marines, with a scattering of plasma and melta weaponry, Heavy Bolters and Missile launchers if I take heavy weapons, and a Whirlwind or two for heavy support.

Basically going for volume of fire instead of raw firepower since there isn't much in the army that needs anything really heavy to wreck it.
We've got plenty of youth... How about a fountain of smart?

ill make sure to drop libby and terminators for more marines.
I guess that my game was 50% terrible luck and 20% unappropriate list and 30% inexperience against dark eldar.
thanks for all the replies guys, well next time i play against this guy ill make sure he'll be the one who gets killed
