there is a wide range of space amrine vehicles but only the rhino and LR/LRC are availibal for greyknights????...
i was wondering if i can convert land speeders, predators, vindicators ect. for grey knight use.
they would make great additions to my army i should think :shifty: being able to have GK vehicles upgrades also...
No, SM and DH are different armies. That'd be like combining Eldar and Orks or something equally odd. The Gk don't have many vehicles because they fight Daemons, not tanks.
If you MUST have tanks in your GK army, use the VDR to build one. But be aware that they really aren't fluffy.
i dont know all too much about GK, ive only started collecting them recently and havent read much background but what i gather is that they are, like the space marines created from a gene seed, though not the same tyep but yeh.. and they feild relatively the same type of units... so to say that they are different doesnt make sense... maybe i need to read a bit more fluff, yes... i just figued a grey knight land speeder flying round the battle feild would look good or even just for display....
ill still do it when i have spare time and money but i wont feild them then... thanks for the reply though
Well, the GK are SM, but aren't SM at the same time. They have power armor, and the same stats, but that's about it. Their basic weaponry is different, for one. Second, they don't use vehicles in the same way as other SM - basically only Land Raiders and the rare Dreadnought. They don't field similar units to SM at all - no tac squads, no assault squads, no bikes, no rhinos, no devestators, no jump packs.
As for chapter setup, they don't have librarians or chaplains. Basically, the ranking officer works as the chaplain, and ALL the GK are psykers to some degree, so librarians are unnecessary. They aren't divided into companies like other SM, and they serve a chamber of the Inquisition instead of acting as another chapter of the Adapteus Astartes.
They wouldn't use landspeeders or predators because their foe doesn't have tanks that need taking out. Heavy guns or artillery is too innacurate to depend on for killing Daemons. So every GK is trained in the use of a nemesis force weapon to banish the denizens of the Warp by hand.
They usually are teleported in to deal with specific threats. The first war on Armageddon was ended when a squad of Grey Knights teleported into the reigning Daemon Prince's throne room and destroyed him. They don't fight in random wars or alongside other troops so much as respond to specific Daemonic threats.
I understand what you mean now thanks.... do you recomend the book "grey knights" for reading its on the black library website and i was thinking of ordering it for a bit of back ground info and what not .... i also have a 1500 pts battle against my mates tau force (3 months or so) and presently only have 1200 pts (aprox) but ill be getin more models anyway... just wondering if battles like those against tau if i would need such vehicles (<<just hypothetical) not that it matters i wont bother making any, but they dont really have any chaos influence and they ahve those tanks, but he has 2 hammerhead and 1 devilfish and a few battlesuits and what not i know cause i helped paint them but i dont know what he'll feild.... he ahs tonnes and has been collecting for 2 years and ahs 3000 pts total i think but hes lazy and doesnt buy that much.....

FOR FREEDOM, FOR HONOUR, FOR BLOOD
Vehicle Design Rules. They were in a WD and I *think* also in the last Chapter Approved. It's a system for making legal (although, still not tourney legal) vehicles for most armies. Also included rules for making Tyranid Monsterous Creatures. I honestly don't know if they're still valid in 4th edition, but I don't see why they wouldn't be.
Thanks Megalomanic and by last[SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1] chapter approved you mean 2003?
FOR FREEDOM, FOR HONOUR, FOR BLOOD
That would be 2004 Chapter Approved..
Lets say your friend fields 5 Rail guns.... You are thinking you will need some lascannons to take those out right? Wrong... For every vehicle you buy that’s one more target for the rail gun.. Ok, you buy x amount of pts in vehicles to take out those rails guns and you will straight up lose in the shoot out and will have spent more doing it. Get up close and dirty... I mean dirty... Drive that LRC right up in his face and unload GN Termies into his HQ and beet them senseless with the Nemesis, Deep Strike ALL your Grey Nights onto the your hommer’s and BURN, BURN, BURN, ASSAULT with Incinerators and S6 power Weapons , Use your ST squads and rhino’s to support the main assault from the onset and help screen the LRC on round 1.
You need no further vehicals..
Actually I think all the vehicles are unfluffy anyway. Even the Land Raider/LRC. I can't remeber exactly, but doesn't the codex explain that GKs use only blessed weapons and not any thought to be lesser. They don't give a list, but you can take what you wnat from that fluff-wise. Personally I think that includes anything the GKs has that replaces SM counterparts, such as the Heavy flamer is a Incinerator, the Heavy BOlter or Assault cannon is a Psycannon. So we've all wondered what a LR would be like with TL Psycannons, or a the forge world variant with Side psycannons, or the LRC with Incinerators instead of melta. That would be better fluff personally. But I don't think VDR even allows those weapons, maybe.
Anyway, the main problem with the LR is it's a really expensive transport. I bought one and ended up trading to a friend for GKs because it never fit into the game plan. What if it was streamlined to get GKs into the thick of it, without all the tank-killing weapons. no side sponsons at all, just a TL psycannon up front and a pintle-mounted incin.
