Well i bought the cadian battleforce and have it glued and almost have it all painted. I was wondering beside the mandatory HQ choice what would be the next best thing to add to my army for a 500 pt 40k in a flash army? Sentinals? Karaskins?. . etc

you dont NEED an HQ, but it might be helpful for upgraded leadership. sentinals are good. fairly cheap, sucky armor, but decent guns. the autocannon/multilaser would be your best bet. heavy weapons are you friends, especially in these low point games. stormtroopers are good for taking out vehicles and the occasional marine squads (rapid firing plasma). and take doctrines which are free (close order=very helpful and same with drop troopers) 40k in 40 min. is hard for the guard, just remember to have heavy weapons.

well, its up to you. cost/benefit analysis.
85 points for 12 FV, heavy bolter, and multilaser=good
85 points for 10 SV=really bad.

you get the moblity and heavy weapons, but it is kinda expensive to have all those points in one model. for 85 points, you get a heavy bolter, plasma gun, I4 and Ld8, plus 7 additional wounds in a squad. a squad of troops could have more survivability, but then so could a chimera. i personally would not take one, but one can make an argument either way

A chimera is pretty useful. I usually take a platoon and some stormtroopers. Alway get Iron Disipline.

in my 400 point flash armies i like to run either all foot or armor.

i think my favorite is all foot. i just take two platoons.

Doctrines: CoD, Iron Disp, DropTroop

i just take two platoons of this:
JO w/ Iron Disp
command squad w/ Mortar

squad 1 w/ Heavy Bolter
squad 2 w/ Missle Launcher
200 points X 2 = 400 points, 50 guys, 6 heavy weapons.

my other list as two Armored Fists and a Sentienl. Two armored fists in a flash game can either be really good or really dead, depending on who your facing.

but personally, i like the all foot list the best.
i really don't like StormTroopers (Grenadiers) in small games. i find that they're not point efficent enough.

Ive taken an Armored Fist squad and a Conscript squad (you still have a bunch of points left too&#33 before in a skirmish game, and it worked out pretty well. Nothing like firing 50 lasgun shots and assaulting with 50 models!

In small points games, opponents REALLY freak out about tanks, so expect any armor you take to become a glowing target right from the start.

Tanks nearly always freak out any opponent. I play using 3 Russ's in 1000pts. And yes i know its cheesy, but it's worth it when you see the look on their face you place them on the board.

Back to the point at hand. I would field a normal platoon of men and an armoured fist with a melta gun. Then i would max out on heavy weapons and probably carapace armour.

but how does your face look when those 3 Russes go down in two turns?

3 tanks in 1000 points is a rather big chunk of your army (~ half), and AV 14 is nice, it's not invulnerable. a few well placed Lascannons/Railguns/Gaus and you're in trouble.
