Company Command Squad
I'm curious as to what HQ choices other folks make. In browsing through the army lists, it seems that the CCS is fairly popular. However, I wanted to see if there was any distinction as to WHEN particular HQ choices were used.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I use the Company Command squad. The ability to take three special weapons and use orders make them useful in many situations.
I have to stick with the CCS. It is the most flexible for the price.
I usually take a CCS and Yarrick, if I have enough points. The CCS stands back with a Standard, Vox and MOO to give orders to my line platoons while Yarrick rushes forward with my Conscripts to make them more of a threat.

Um... they can take 4 special weapons.Originally Posted by HindenburgYarrick is far overpriced for what he can do, its very un guard like to have big one man expensive flashy HQ units, there's a reason for that.Originally Posted by Commissar_Dixon
I vote CCS, they can do many useful things within the army, they can sit back with just a vox an autocannon and some camo cloaks, giving orders while adding to the firepower. They can ride in a chimera with 4x meltas or plasmas in a mech army, just adding characters changes the role they take in the army completely, add Straken and you get as close to a CC army as you can with guard, add creed for extra orders to help out infantry heavy guard armies along with his ability to outflank almost anything in your army. AND... thats before we even talk about the abilities of astropaths/officers of the fleet.
CCSs are just awesome.
...But then in smaller games sometimes it is better to use a Primaris Psyker. Not quite as good as a CCS, but not too shabby a choice.
You were getting confused with Veteran Squad, which does indeed have 3 specials
And yeah, one more vote for CCS.
"The sergeant major asked me what my job is. I told him it's to do what I am told. He gave me a medal. I like the Imperial Guard."

I also use a CCS. It is so versatile and the orders are so useful that its very hard to resist. Cheap too. You can also add characters such as Straken and Creed to it, giving it even more posibilities. I normally take a second choice in games above 1000 points however, and I do like primaris psykers, who I find work very well with mech armies. A Lord Commissar is more useful for infantry hordes.
Er, to tell the truth no lol
And yes, indeed they do
