Does the storm bolter follow the pistol rules? I'm not sure why but i always thought they conferred a +1 attack when equpped by a captain. Can't actually find this in the rules anywhere. I haven't actually used a captain in any games in the 5th edition.
What do you guys think about storm bolters anyway are they worth taking with any units besides terminators?
They're not pistols, and they don't count as an extra CCW. They're worth considering for guys with Power Fists, Lightning Claws, Thunder Hammers, and other weapons where pistols don't grant you that extra CC attack, for the extra range and extra shot over a pistol. Even then though, a combi-something is probably the better option.
Storm bolters are assault weapons, so you can move, fire, and still assault with your normal statline number of attacks. I like them, my captain has one and a power sword. Never give your captain a power fist or thunder hammer - you lose the advantage of his higher initiative. I give storm bolters the thumbs up, but like most things it comes down to personal preference.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
Like its been said they dont confer an extra attack. Although they arent bad weapons, a combi weapon is usually a better choice. Even then, dont put them on anything unless they have a claw/fist/thunder hammer/relic blade. HQs in power armour should always be getting the extra attack considering how few attacks marines get, so if they have say a power weapon, go with a pistol. But terminator armour is a completely different story.
