i just started a marine army and thought about how cool (but extremely expensive) a soul drinkers army would be.
for those of you who dont know who the soul drinkers are they are outcasts of the imperium because of the physical mutation of their gene-seed. they are seen as mutants and hunted down by the inquisition but they are one of the most loyal chapters to the emperor.
so what ive done is get loads of chaos space marine possessed bits and stuck them on various marines in my army. for example one of my sergeants has a plasma pistol, power sword and huge wings! of course they dont mean anything points wise but they look really cool.
another sergeant has a big claw which i paid for as a powerfist, so im trying to do legal conversions, but if i see something really cool i just stick on there anyway!
if im not the first person to have ''discovered this chapter'' then let me know, i'd love to share some ideas.
all the best,
A friend of mine did an entire Soul Drinkers army. He has all the special characters and tank names etc... The only difference is he uses loyalist marines, just painted purple and gold. He went into very fine detail, painting on the chalice.
He did convert Sarpedon however. He used Tyranid elgs to do this, and I must say, it turned out very nicely.
The Wolf time is upon us!
Rep for the Rep God! Positive for the Positive Throne!
Armies: Space Wolves, Imperial Guard, Emperors Children, Necrons, Eldar
I used to have a soul drinkers marine chapter, I used tyranid legs and green stuff to model Sarpedon and counted him as mounted on a bike. Like you did I represented mutations such as the arms with power fists, modeled onto a lot of other marines were simple mutations such as horns, scales etc. It is do-able but if you plan to play competitively make sure your opponent understands what the mutations count as.
Aaaahhh The Soul Drinkers, the loyal traitors. Yeh they have some great books. Anyway i would recommend using the chaos space marine codex but using loyal space marine models. If you have your troop choices as plague marines then it shows how the soul drinkers are VERY low on numbers but are then very well skilled in combet because of how active they are.
