First off, Hello! First time posting. (long time CMONer) first time Librarium.
(i have also posted this in the fluff thread just in case)
So, i've been getting into 40k recently (having not actually played it too much before) and i find that i'm getting quite hooked(except for the expensive models)
But i was interested in DA and found that they're codex kinda sucks being out of date. So i was tempted to just make my own chapter.
I'm not to concerned about the fluff(i was just going to have them be a successor chapter from when the inner circle was decided what to do after the heresy and the thing that happened on caliban. And They originally broke off from the main chapter Having disagreed with their ploy of seeking out the Fallen and instead wanted to continue Lion'el johnsons duty to protect the emperor.) that seems pretty legit to me.
But my question comes when i start getting into rules. I was wondering if it would be possible to use the normal 5th ed SM codex, and then possibly take Belial as a special character in the army? from the DA codex. Clearly i would give him a different name. but i was wondering if this was legit and also tournament legal?
Any CC from the fluff is welcome as well.
Nope, unless your rulebook specifically states otherwise (whichhunters, daemonhunters) you must draw your entire army list from the same rulebook.
What watchwood said.
Might I suggest you make a Terminator-armored captain/chapter master (you could even use the Belial model)? (I too wanted DA but the book's not so wonderful)
That'd all let you have a fluffy DA successor and a "fill in the blanks" Belial type terminator captain till the next DA codex comes out.
Your fluff sounds good btw.
Nice bit of background, and welcome to LO. The other posts nailed your question but the Dark Angels will get a new codex sooner or later. My post is about the models. The DA have an excellent big box set in the Ravenwing. Six bikes, attack bike and land speeder with loads of DA bits as well, much cheaper than buying the kits individually and even cheaper if you get it online from somewhere like Wayland games.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
