i currentley have 2 speeders both with an assult cannon/multi-melta. iam gunna max out the squdron and iam wondering wheater to take 3 asault cannons or 2 assault cannons and a typhoon missle launcher. i did some tests with dice agaisnt tau/elder/orks ect and on avergae the typhoon missle launcher killed more than the extra assault cannon. any thourghts?
Typhoon Launchers are definitely better than Assault Cannons in the current ruleset, especially if used alongside multi-meltas as they can fire 2 krak missiles to complement the multi-melta in it's armour busting role.
I had a squad of 3 with heavy bolters and assault cannons but I'm replacing them with multi-melta and typhoon loadout ones for most games.
It's also worth remembering that they are better for anti-infantry as well, as the typhoon in frag mode is a defensive weapon and therefore can be fired alongside a heavy bolter whilst on the move.
Seconded. Typhoons all the way, with Multi-meltas if you can afford them.

Typhoon - heavy bolter would be my preffered loadout, and keep the multi melta variants as single weapon speeders for range reasons.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
The Typhoon is definitely superior to the Assault cannon in a few areas. Assault cannons are sort of the middle child in terms of military hardware, while they can chew up infantry, you could probably get a couple of heavy bolters somewhere for the cost of one assault cannon. Meanwhile, against bigger, meaner tanks and armor they don't have nearly enough punch.
If you can fit 10+ assault cannons into a list, they're worth it, but that's tough to do. Typhoons are just all around better, unless your luck on scatter rolls is terrible.
As for having a Multi-melta or heavy bolter as a second weapon, it depends entirely on what you want to do with the thing, heavy bolters for infantry shredding or a Multi-melta for dedicated tank hunting. Regardless, either variant is solid.

"Why is there a big red button on the bridge that says 'Exterminatus?'" "Why wouldn't we have one of those? I love that thing."
I run two squadrons of two typhoons with HB. They can keep at range shooting MEQs and transports. When hordes are inbound, I can still move 12", fire frags (defensive weapon) and HB. Keeping speeders at range helps keeping them alive.
I do however also go with a squadron of two speeders with MM and HF. Its dual purpose which is rarely good, but with the speeder I think its great.
I would never risk my typhoons up close with MM. And they cost more with the melta. Tornadoes was the bomb in 4th edition, but with HB no longer being defensive, and having to move more than 12" to get cover save they are just not that good any more.
Running two speeders (not one or three) means that if one is behind cover, both are. Suffer 2 penetrating hits and a glancing - Take the pens on one speeder and the glancing on another. One speeder not able to shoot - keep it in cover all the time.
I do like MM+HF for the cost and dual role but then I have a Vulkan list and twin linking the weapons makes a big difference.

Assault Canon for the looks, Typhoons for the utility... I have 6 Typhoons, but then I run a bike army
I have a serious problem with Speeders being 24" or closer to the enemy, so I never use any weapon except Typhoons and HB.
The Typhoon + HB pattern can stand off at 36" or 48" and pour fire at virtually any enemy unit. They are often my MVPs. My opponents hate them.
The 2x HB pattern is very cheap, and is very useful, but doesn't really have a place in an all-comers list unless you have a few points left and nothing else to spend them on.
Remember to make sure that you use squadrons of one whenever you can.
For MM I much prefer bikes.
...but Land Speeders CAN deep strike, if need be, and bikes cannot. On the other hand, bikes are easier to hide, and they do not have the low AV stat, but rather and above-average T value...
