in the 40k in 40 for escalation-DH ARE SCREWED.
no 3 wound chars? no 2+ saves? our only option then is a bc with termi honours-which SUX, he already dies easily (if thats even allowed, i cant find anything on termi honours in the codex, where would a rule on that be?). if termi honours can even be taken by dh, if not we have no choices. assuming we can that leaves us with a small pile of expensive crap. personally think the wound and armour restrictions are crap and i never play with them.
while im at it- lets see some 500 pt lists shall we
inq lord (iotj pw holocaust bp) +2warriors (ccw hell pistol, plasma gun) +alcolyte w/ refractor
5 st (1 grenade launch)
5 st (vet w/ pw bp, flamer, krack grenades)
(+points for an extra st or wargear)
sux, i know, no anti tank but i dont have the minis (im going to get a few melta sts)
No, terminator honors isn't in our choice of gear. And a Lord has three wounds, in case you forgot, so that's a no go either.
Someone should write GW about this one, right now it seems the only option is to use a BC and *PAY* to downgrade him to power armor, which is kinda a ripoff.
I thought that you didn't have to have a HQ in 40k in 40 mins, or does some rule of 'escalation' change this? Eldar are in the same boat, as they only have The Avatar and Farseers, so I just use a Warlock or an Exarch if the mission requires a HQ. If you need a 'HQ' or leader type model, I would suggets using and Inquisitor, even though he is an Elite choice, simply because he fits the best.in the 40k in 40 for escalation-DH ARE SCREWED.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
An HQ isn't required, so DH are in no way screwed. A Justicar is as good as any HQ choice allowed by the Combat Patrol/Escalation league rules. And since he's a squad member and can't be picked out, he'll usually beat the crap out of any 2 wound HQ. For the local Escalation League I'm just taking two 9 man Squads of Grey Knights. It works pretty well. Besides, an HQ isn't really worth it in a game this size. They seriously reduce the number of models you have, and if they die you're screwed.
There's an angel on my shoulder, in my hand a sword of gold.
good call guys, ill need to review my 40k in a flash rules- for some reason i thought we needed a troop and an hq choice, my bad. i am aware that the list i posted isnt legal, its just the 500 pt small game list that i use. thanks for the tip guys. seriously though- bum luck for us an the eldar.
It's ok, I didn't know it used Flash rules either till Nebulas and lepermessiah said otherwise ^_^
Since you don't need an HQ unit until 1000pts, I'd suggest sticking with flat out Troops choices. IST give you plenty of powerful guns, and GK are CC beasts as well as infantry lawnmowers with their stormbolters. I'd go with something along the lines of:
8 GK (1 Incinerator) + 1 Justicar (MC'd NFW, Meltabombs) - 285
9 IST (2 meltaguns) - 110
8 IST (2 plasma guns) - 100
i like that setup megalo but an incinerator in the gk squad? i would rather use a psy cannon for the advance, dsing them would be a waste in such a small game-maybe no assault weapon?
heres an interesting fact:
"No model can have more than 3 Wounds."
straight from gw-so you CAN have inq lords, and 3 wound chars in general-just no uber daemon princes or other monstrisities. still, that doesnt change much now that i know i dont need to field a hq. troops are the way to go.
are you talking about escalation the league games? or escalation the mission (Omega) rules?
cause if it's the Omega rules, you don't use those rules for 40k flash. Flash games you just straight up kill. no turn limit, just kill.
as for escalation leagues. well just start with your basics. Inq. Storm Troopers, perhaps a Elite Inq if you feel like it. Throw in a few Assassins...
unless you're one of those "Puratins..." but then you got a hard as nails troop... can't complain there.
