Hey. I'm just curious what your favourite Captain/Chapter Master setups are. Personally, for Vanguard Vets and my Captains, I use a Lightning Claw and Storm Shield. This is decent as it makes a survivable, yet murderous model.
Current Armies: Tau, Dark Angels, Wood Elves, Bretonnians
Side Projects: Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar, High Elves, The Empire
I dont like the look of the lightning claws though i know they make sense, mostly on sarges. My captains have boltgun, relic blade, digital weapons, hellfire amunition, artificer armor and most of the time bike.If i dont throw him on a bike i make him a chapter master.
Thats for vanilla codex.
Beeing a DA player i either use Sam or Azr,their is really no point in taking a simple company master.
Praise be to the Emperor!!
i like to feild captian on a bike, power sword, bolt pistol, bike hellfire rounds, digi weapons and thown him in a biker comand
My ToP - raven gaurd <- cliky
Raven Guard W/13 D/7 L/5
I did try Relic Blade+Artificer Armour and it should have been nice, but the enemy made 3 4++ saves and Force Weaponed him
Hard to justify making one model so very expensive in my view, though with a bargain command squad 2+/3++/4+FNP looks pretty yum
I used to use paired lightning claws and a jump pack. Put him with a small squad of Assault Marines and he makes an excellent countercharger. (By going in after the combat has started, he has an easier time keeping away from dangerous ICs. Also, having multiple wounds helps him ignore difficult terrain.) Simple, effective, not too expensive.

If you have no points limits, I like Artificer armour, relic blade, storm shield, bike, and hellfire rounds.
Or, since I'm space wolves, wolf lord with Frost Blade, Storm Shield, Thunder Wolf mount, x2 Fenrisian Wolves, Wolf tooth necklace, wolf tail talisman, Saga of the Warrior Born - very expensive, utter close combat beast!

Tau Empire: We never stop hiding from you
Just a Relic Blade - though the only time I take a captain of any sort is if I'm taking a special character for his abilities, or if I'm running a bike list.
I *might* pile the odd extra upgrade onto him if I've got nothing better to spend the points on. He's good for that, at least.
Artificer armor, lightning claw, bolter with hellfire rounds. Or ill run relic blade, artificer armor, and digital weapons(Digital wepaons help when assaulting averge troops in case of rolls of 1 and against monstrous because they have T6 which requires 4's to wound). Or on a bike with artificer and a lightning claw.
i never run Chapter masters because they dont fit in one squad while with the captain throw him in the command squad and make him beast. Like if you put a chapter master in an assault squad with jumpack you would be better off running a jump chaplin or librarian due to squad helping abilites. Honor guard just dont cut it for me due to the fact that AP 3 weapons ripe them apart while the command squad gets FnP against that XD. Also your paying 25 points for orbital bombardment and your losing the ability to run a command squad so i just throw those 25 points into gear for the captain.

Relic Blade, Bike, Hellfire Rounds. The only real reason to use a Captain other than Fluff is to unlock bikers as troops. Otherwise you're better off running a Librarian or Special Character.

I use Shrike. Firstly it unlocks Raven Guard chapter tactics (Fleeting Space Marines, yay) and secondly pair of claws with a jump pack is great murder on lesser mortals. Plus I like the name.
If I ever decide to use another captain it would likely be simple and cheap powerweapon and bolter type with maybe Artific armor. But, as said before, Libby is a LOT better unless you need Bikers as Troops.
