Yeah my buddy was playing imperial guard and he attached an advisor to his deepstriking stormtrooper squad. Seeing as the commisar is attached it deepstrikes with the squad right? Not sure and neither was he we couldn't read in his codex where this is possible or where it isn't so if you could let me know it would be much appreciated.
no, im pretty sure the commissar doesnt drop in with them. in army of the imperium when u make a stormie squad with deep strike and then give them a commissar everyne has deepstrike under them BUT the commissar, so id guess he doesnt drop in.

they deepstrike/infiltrate with them. advisors are not independent characters (usually), how else do you think it'd work?
If you add a character to a squad with a special ability which the character does not possess; unless specified in the entry, the complete squad loses that ability...

I checked the book. The wording for storm troopers getting deep strike says the "squad" can do it at the cost per model. An attached advisor joins the ST squad and becomes part of that squad. So if you spend the point, they get it.
That's just my take on it. It doesn't say the storm troopers themselves get deep strike. It says the squad gets it.
advisors are not independent characters. they become a member of the squad.
Commissars can be independent if you make them independent commissars. If they are not independent then they have to join the command hq, platoon command squads and separate squads in that order. Your friend has to have at least three commissars to be able to put one in a stormtrooper squad, unless you use grenadiers or something and then he still needs two, one for the HQ and one for a squad.
If they are independent then you don't "attach" them to the squad. They can set up together with the squad if they want, but they can't deep strike with them since commissars don't have the deep strike rule.
I can't find it in the rulebook either, but if they've forgotten it then it will probably be mentioned in a FAQ. Otherwise my Space Marine force commander with lightning claws could infiltrate together with my scouts, or deep strike with my assault marines.
If we had thought quickly enough, we could have asked someone who was going to Gamesday today to ask someone important for a clarification...***
