Right, to be clear i have got a hell of a lot of armies mostly 40k but i am always looking to start another. This post and your replies is here to give me some ideas on what to do next.
It is about trying to find another space marine army to build but i just dont know which chapter to try for, currently my space wolves are my mech army with 5 squads charging towards the enemy while 3 packs of long fang give them cover. My salamanders rely on both tanks and razorbacks to do the work, they where mainly start for he'stan as the model is great.
I was thinking about a solid vetran army, loads of vets but then that would mean getting close quater and i alread have got the wolves for that so maybe and defensive army with a lot of heavys. the thing with the vets is that the modles could be almost like mini heroes while the defensive might be a lot of troops, scouts. i am trying to avoid white scars or imperial fists as i really dont like painting white or yellow.
again just trying to get an idea of what i need to buy at the next games day, by then i should have got the other 5 armies built, hopefully!
thanks for any replies!
If you're looking for an elite army, you could look into an Sanguinary Guard list. Properly done, those aren't too bad.
If you're just looking to do something different, perhaps a Black Templars footslogging list? I can't say it's all that competitive, but there's a certain charm in explaining to your opponent that shooting at your guys will make you run at them EVEN FASTER.
i do remeber reading that rule and wishing that every marine chapter could have it. as for the saguinary guard, the modles are nice they are really good at killing stuff, but i dont know if i can convince myself to buy blood angles, they have got good fluff and all but something doesnt seem right bout them to me.
For competitive play I prefer using vanilla marines, but as watchwood said, try a templar army if BA feels wrong.
They are good fun for sure. For your sword brethren you can go really far in modeling and painting so you have very nice veterans. I sometimes end up using my sword brethren as vanguard vets since I like em better. In any case, you could still take the BA or BT codex and just make it a DIY chapter.
i do love grimaldus... hmmm worth a thought or two cheers!
Maybe try a DA ravenwing army, it's got bike's, but they'r not white or yellow, and if you don't like the C: DA, since it's too old, you could always use the Vanilla codex, with a bike army.
More space marines? Why not give yourself a challenge and go for a heretic/xeno army. You will be bored fast of regular marines again. I think you should either go Chaos Space Marines, gives you a new challenge but with similar mechanics or Tau which are challenging and a very unique and interesting playstyle.
“When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.”
Me? I'm going to start converting marine parts into custodes - To be assembled when the GK codex comes out (and i know wargear options. apparently storm bolters aren't standard. Apparently they're better.)
that's alot of GS heads.

cheers for the answers, lyuben i have got tau and chaos, but by the time games day 2011 comes i am going to need to start another marine army, its just the way i am really.
You might also try a heavily converted Iron Hands army. Could make a pretty good defensive list with them I'd say.
