So my friend and I are trying something new with our lists. My friend plays tyrannids and he has decided to make three main lists each 2000 pts. each list is supposed to represent a new wave in the tyrannid invasion. before every battle he just rolls to see wich list he plays.
Basically i love the way he is trying to integrate theme into the game so i want to do something similar but i play Iron Hands.
my thought was that in one list i could play an artifact recovery list containing lots of fast attack units to grab onto objectives (goes with the fluff)
then i was thinking of going with a "remember the ancients" list where I would field dreadnoughts termies and land raiders
Im still kindof stuck on what my third list would be, I still want it to be somewhat coherent with the theme of Iron hands but i cant think of any more ideas.
anyway if you have any ideas of what sort of things should go in any of these lists lemmi know!
Praise the God-king of mankind!
Iron Hands 3000+ pts
DIY Imp. Guard 1800 pts
Hmm, well I'm not too savvy on Iron Hands lore--as far as loyalist marines go I tend to use Space Wolves--so don't take my word on the fluffy aspect, but if competitiveness isn't high on your priorities then an army with plenty of techmarines/masters might be fitting. The first thing that comes to mind is a "defend the artefacts!" sort of army with a lot of static firing positions--using predators, thunderfire cannons, conversion beams, long-range dreadnoughts, etc--with a couple Masters of the Forge and maybe a techmarine or two to repair broken weapon systems as the chapter valiantly endures wave upon wave in order to safeguard priceless technology. Like I said, I'm not sure just how competitive the list will be but it sounds like it would fit your fluff.

you could also do some kind of first company list. I know that the Iron Hands are way technology driven, and Terminator suits are often some of the oldest and most revered equipment that a chapter will have. So a couple large Terminator squads may well be fitting. To make them a bit more competitive, you may want to marry standard marine squads with Librarians with Gate, which gives them awesome mobility. But ya, the "defend the objective" list would be really cool too
