I have been wanting to start up my third army and have been having a hard time figuring out which army to start. As many know I am a huge Black Templar player and have a small Tau army as well. But a time for a change was soon to be implemented as I needed a new start. (No worries Acsension Im keeping my Black Templar Army). And so I thought to myself, what do I want
Blood Angels? - Na played them before I played Templar, Need something new
Tau? - Na although the tau are cool I dont want a super shooty army
Dark Angels - Was thinking about it, But didnt like there style to much
So you ask me what did I chose to start?
Well im looking at Grey Knights Possibly.
But I will be open to suggestions if Lo would like to give me them!
What do you say LO?
There are one of two possible options I can see for you mt good friend.
1. The Ultramarines, you like style the old smurfs can adapt to any style that suits your taste at the time, they can go CC, go Shooty or go Armour or Elites. They have some of the best selections open to Marine Chapters and with the release of the New SM Codex there characters are returning in force. Calgar goes Invunerable and rumours of an honour guard are circulating.
But..... if Marines you feel you've played over
2. The Eldar, very different style of play to your BT, have some good CC and some good Guns. Ive always thought about how attractive a Biel-Tan Swordwind Army would be, all Aspects doing what they do best on the battlefield. And with there blatant speed advantages, you will find that there style of play is very different to what you have experienced before.
Other than my personal recommendations, you will have to go with an army you love. I find fluff expeditions are good at choosing my armies, I have Ultra and Dark Angels and are looking to go Eldar. But anyway have fun, hope it helps.

Thank you, I am quite surprised at how well built and properly supported your arguments are and hope that all others that post here show the same attention to detail and respect that you have shown.
I cannot speak to other armies as an alternative do to my bias for the Grey Knights.
My thoughts on the Grey Knights for you,
Bias you say... I find that I regard my Grey Knight force as “fragile and one that requires a lot of my time and forethought while playing and developing the list. Fragile..? You will read many posts with people claiming that there tough and masters of CC (they must know something I don’t) but in all actuality when you factor in the excellent models, time put into the paint job and the pt cost of the units (especially the pt cost) you begin to treat every model as if it was the only one on the battle field ( we cant afford to lose any). This fits my style just right. If you would like a small force that requires careful management, aggressive tactics (very aggressive) and don’t mind being anal when moving or shooting they can be a viable threat to any opponent. Fielding 40 models when your used to fielding 65 is eerie feeling though.
“Imperium Over All
Hah, well, I don't mind. I guess I'm destinied to be the only pure BT collector around...Originally posted by Blood God@Sep 30 2004, 22:52

As for army recommendations, Blood God, I might suggest World Eaters or Orks to you. Why? Because you seem like the type who likes bloodthirsty CC-obsessed armies... as far as I know...

I find that playing an army with entirely different tactics every once in a a while is a breath of fresh air.
When I first came back to the hobby I was an IG player through and through. After a few years of the IG, though, I decided that I wanted an army that was a lot less static so I went overboard.
Now I mostly play my White Scars (Soon to be discontinued along with my Squats and Wood Elves) army.
When I feel like sitting back and not moving many models, then I bring out my IG. If, on the other hand, I feel like going for the other players throat, then I bring out the Scars.
So my overall suggestion is to choose an army with entirely different dynamics. It will vastly improve your playing skill (I'm sure you're a great player already ) as you will be able to see the game from an entirely different perspective.
I think you should go for something without power armour! :glare:
Go for one of the less armoured races, like eldar, dark eldar or orks. Personally I hate orks, but both eldar races are really cool and very different to play if you use marines.
We don't need more marines or Ulthwé... :realmad:
On a side-note, this would be the wrong forum and by any means you should ask yourself not us.
I dunno, rulling out Necrons because they lack imagination, you want something unique presumably, or unique for you,
May of the Eldar craftworlds offer you unique options, I would take a serious look at Saim Hann, for its vypers and jet bikes as well as Alaitoc, although it has some parrallels to Tau in that it is shooty, it is very different, Beil tann has been mentioned.
I would also consider Space Wolves, pretty much unique, particularly 13th company
Tyranids may be another option, although there are similarities to BT
Everything you have been told is a lie!
You should play Kroot Mercs, they are such an original army.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
