you want to get darnath lysander because he is the only imperial fist character you can get, and get some sterngaurd veterans because they are complemented by lysanders bolter drill rule. you will also want some yellow paint
if you want them to go with the fluff, then you want to have a master of the forge so that you can get more heavy choices. imperial fists are very heavy support orientated and the techmarine bolster defences rule is very imperial fisty so you should work it into your game. imperial fists are masters of seige warfare and seige defense. they are rivaled only by the iron hands who they bitterly hate. i wouldn't imagine imperial fists making much use of fast attack so i would only use one fast attack if any

I picture the Imperial Fists chapter to be a heavy siege breaking chapter! I my mind they would use lascannons, meltaguns, landraiders, vindicators and thunderhammers!
If i were to make a fluffy IF army, it would be something in the lines of this:
Lysander and TH/SS terminators in a LR redeemer with a MM (could use sternguards instead!)
two squads of tactical marines with lascannon meltagun and powerfist.
two TL lascannon razorbacks with extra armour for the tacticals
two vindicators with siege shield to plow through the landscape!
Heavy armour and high strength weaponry... this is what I think smells like imperial fist!
although lysander with a group of terminators with th/ss looks awesome, they dont get to use his bolter drill special rule. its a shame that he cant buff up the one unit hes geared up like. if i wrote the rules for him, i would have ditched bolter drill and made thunder hammers I4, then everyone would stick him with assault terminators with th/ss
I'm thinking more along the lines of sticking Lysander with a Stanguard Squad taking full advantage of that bolter drill special.
I know what you mean though it seems so out of place to give him this rule.
Though I'm not putting Lysander with them I will be fielding some th/ss Terminators for the thrill of them smashing a bunch of things up
yeah sterngaurd is a good idea. special ammo + bolter drill = dead enemies. and assault terminators with th/ss go good with the theme too but if you want them you should use a land raider. i hope your planning on having a big list, you'll need a lot of points
Yeah planning on having a big list. Going to build on what i have, with the Land Raider I was thinking a Land Raider which one do you think would be best? Im thinking of getting another Tac Squad and a Devastater Squad also in the near future. Probably gonna trade my Scouts with Bolters for ones with Snipers.
I swear by the Crusader LR. At 6" it can shoot... well, everything... unless you have an HK missile as well. Once you shoot that though you can fire everything every turn with 1 weapon at a different target...
Plus awesome transport capacity and 14 armour all around... so no fear of your facing. It pretty much won the last game I played single-handed

Rules for playing massive tabletop games with star wars miniatures!
I prefer redeemers personally. my favourite tactic is to try and get between 2 units at combat speed, then unload my assault terminators then fire both flamestorms at each side, then my assault terminators are left to assault whatever is left. you can get 5 or so strength 6 hits with AP3 and no cover saves for each flamestorm. I find its more fun to throw land raiders right in the middle of everything. you can get cover saves for it from the enemy troops too
