i'm currently haveing trouble beating death company
these ****** have a bucketload of attacks are in a land raider redeemer (wich deep strikes) and blasts everything to bits
i will do ANYTHING, no matter HOW cheesy, to kill these guys (even legion of the damned)
As far as deepstriking is concerned, you should probably take a look at the rune priest's power "tempests wrath" It makes any model that deepstrikes within 2 feet treat all terrain as difficult and dangerous. As far as the death company is concerned, there are normally two ways to deal with a really powerful unit. The first is to play to their weaknesses. So, for example, if they are a close combat oriented squad then you should use ranged fire from your long fangs or even better a vindicator to bring them down. Your second option is to tar pit them. If your oppenent has sunk 3-4 hundred points in them, it really sucks when a unit of 10 grey hunters with an attached wolf priest to make them fearless holds them up for 3 rounds in close combat. You will probably lose the combat eventually but he will never make back the points that he spent on that unit if they are always stuck in close combat with a relatively cheap unit of yours. As a last ditch effort you can simply try your best to keep all of your units away from them, which usually works best after taking out their transport. Close combat specialist get a lot less scary when they don't have the mobility to get to any of your squads. Hope this helps = D! If you can, let me know how it turns out.
Does your opponant use a locator beacon?
If he doesn't then the easiest way to kill them is just set up as much terrain on the board before the game as you can get away with, then fill the gaps as best you can with your units.
The biggest problem with deepstriking landraiders is the things are freaking big, it is soo easy to scatter onto somthing. Have you ever felt the shame of loosing 500pts of armoured death to a single guardsman standing in the wrong place!?
If he does use a beacon then the easiest option would be to play follow the leader. Once those nut-jobs are out of the raider thay can't get back in because of the black rage. If you can get them to follow a single unit around the board you can either lead them away from the fight or lead them into an ambush and gang-bang them with three times the points.
Remember, you can have as much control over their movement as your opponant does. It doesn't matter how killy somthing is if it's lead by the nose to the far end of the table and left our of the game or if it walks into a meat grinder with three times its points.
In the 41st millenium there is no such thing as paranoia, the universe realy is out to get you!
Rage USR can be a real bitch, despite how much I love Death Company. I don't know much about Space Wolves but I believe Long Fangs are the devastator equivalent? From what I understand they can kick a lot of ass, so all you really have to do is kite the DC with something faster than them while shooting them up with your Long Fangs.
I really shouldn't be telling you this since I use a DC heavy army.
the lot is about 640 points
he has furious charge
he only scatters a d6
has 15 power weapon attacks str 5 in 5 on the charge
i'm currently trying a legion of the damned squad with Björn as HQ
he didnt die so far and he can give those dudes a hard time with his 13 armour
although i prob gotta kill the land raider first (probably multi melta legion dude)
scattering wont help (Blood Angels only scatter 1 D6 and the have 12-15 power sword attack)
and what did you say about them not getting in the land raider anymore??????

If he is deep striking in the Land Raider than he should still be scattering the standard 2d6. The Descent of Angels rule is only in effect when they deep strike using their jump packs.
he doesnt have powerfist
he DOES scatter only d6 inches but he doesnt assault the turn he arrives
and he doesnt have a power fist (although he has an assault cannon and multi melta on his redeemer wich mostly blow up a lot)
but when they are out of the vehicle can they still get in???
that would COMPLETELY change the game becus they cant speed around the entire battlefield anymore
and i will probably smack the power fist asap
and kraks dont work against AV 13

he normally keeps his transport close
it's a bit like this:
pile out and charge
move and pile out charging
etc... etc... etc....
if i can blow 2 weps of/immobilise him and blast him (from a distance) it can get quiet hard
the land raider is mostly in cover
ok new plan:
deploy in corner with Björn in cover and troops around
let everything deep strik etc etc etc
then charge land raider and hack it to bits
then when land raider gone boom charge DC
and the 2D scatter does make out a lot
he would have dropped a LOT later
I will have him play objectives next time *evil laugh*
