i have in mind to start another space marine army but can't decide between SW or BA. both armies have really cool back grounds but i iam kinda going for the fast-paced, rapid assult style of the blood angels but i do love how customisable the SW characters are. can some1 plz tell me what the pros and cons of each army is so i can decide on which one to collect.
As a long time Space Wolf player, I can tell you that these guys are way better than those blood sucking freaks. Space Wolves are both a Shooty army and a CC army. Some people may tell you that Blood Angels will out combat Space Wolves, but that isn't always the case. You just have to know what to assault, and what to kill at range.
Some of the Pro's of the Sons of Russ include:
Awesome HQ options. Ragnar, Njal, and Logan. Three really cool, HQ's that bring different things to the table. Want a CC madman? Then Ragnar is your guy. Want a Character that can Control the very forces of Nature? Then Njal is a must. Want to play an Elite Wolf Guard Terminator army? Then Logan is the choice for you.
Dirt cheap (and arguably the best troop choice in the game) Grey Hunters. These guys are your Jack of all trades. They are good at mid-to close range shooting and assaulting. Don't worry if you didn't get the charge off, They have Counter-Attack, so they are just as deadly on the receiving end of that charge, as if they were the ones who initiated it.
Wolf Gaurd are definitely one of the most customizable units in the game.
ThunderWolf Cav! Drunken blood-thirsty vikings riding giant cyber wolves... Awesome...I really don't think I have to continue.
Long Fangs. Any Space Wolf player will tell you that Long Fangs are worth their points 10 times over. These masters of fire power can put out a hell of alot of fire, and that's just one squad. Take 3 and your opponent will cry.
Long Fangs have no bullet Sponges. From my experience, this hasn't been much of a problem, because if they are shooting at my long fangs, then they arn't shooting at my Rhino's!
To many cool units, not enough points. I never seem to be able to take everything I want...

Armies: Space Wolves, Imperial Guard, Emperors Children, Necrons, Eldar
Well you would say that
For the OP, you say you want another SM army - what do you already have? I'm assuming you don't want another the same...
Personally though I'd make my own chapter so you can use whatever codex you feel like at the time - you've probably already got the basic units, so you'd just need the specialist units of each to have all three all it takes is a slight tweak of your colour scheme and some new army badges
It depends a bit on what you want. Space Wolves are pretty one-track-mind and easy to play. They are also extremely powerfull. Actually, with counter-attack, two CCWs base and cheaper price they are powerfull almost to the point of being overpowered and they will kick BA ass in straight close-combat.
Blood Angels, on the other hand, can be a bit hard to play at first. They are very assaulty and have lots of FNP, but since you can't assault out of Rhino/Razorback or straight after Deep Strike and your army is likely to have pretty low model count you really need to learn to pick your battles with them.
Revenant Moon Necrons: (W/L/D) 0/1/0 (6th edition: 13/2/2)(5th edition: 14/6/4)(3rd edition Codex: 16/4/7)
XIX Legion: (W/L/D) 0/0/0 (5th edition: 14/12/2)(5th edition Codex: 4/3/0)
Black Legion: (W/L/D) 1/0/0 (6th edition: 2/3/0)
Something Wicked... Reikwald Beastmen: (W/L/D) 10/4/1
i had the same dilemna. i would advise picking up both the codexes, ti certainly helped me.
After some deliberation i went for blood angels because they are so cool and i would say equally as competetive as SW
what do the SWs have to answer BA units like the stromraven gunship or a death company dreadnaught? aside from TW cav.
Well, they have massed attacks from cheap grey hunters, split fire from rocket launcher armed long fangs and the psychic powers from their absolutely awesome rune priests. I guess you. Could also say that they have a tooled up wolf lord with a good saga.
Overall though, i think blood angels are better suited if you want very powerful units. I.e. Stormraven, deep striking LR, assault troops, death company and their dreadnought friend.
Space Wolves are great for Drop Pod tactics while Blood Angels do Razorbacks disturbingly well. As a tie-breaker, would you rather have scoring Assault Squads or a scoring Terminator squad?

I play them both and love them both. To me, it is much easier to win with Space Wolves, especially using Ragnar Blackmane. With Space Wolves you can get a lot of power weapons in almost every squad (aka "pack"). Blood Angels have Space Wolves beat in mobility, but Space Wolves can not only take 4 HQ's, but you can make every Wolf Guard to be like a "mini-character."
That being said, I LOVE Death Company and Furioso Dreadnoughts, DC dreadnoughts and I can't wait to get my Storm Raven models on the table!!!!!!!!!!
