So my son has Ultramarines... but sadly his troops units are all from AoBR, so no power fists or heavy weapon options.
I'm thinking he needs a few good options in those departments...
How many of each does the standard SM Tactical Squad box come with? If I only wanted to make alt. weapon marines and as many power fisted Marine sergeants as possible from one box... how many of the ten can be done that way?
There's no power fists in the tactical box - they are in the heavy weapons, assault, commander, and command squad boxes.
What you could try doing is ordering the specific parts your looking for off of bitz sites - there's a ton of good ones around, and if you've already got the bodies it'll save you a lot of money.
A box of Devastators + a Tactical squad is a good way to get multiple heavy weapons + a power fist (though you will have to find additional powerfists elsewhere.)

so glad I asked here first!
Thanks, good advice
Couldn't see where you're from, but blackdagger games are good for the US (ebay shop) or there's some other stuff. Or, just pick up loose ones at 99p auctions (see if they combine too for the HW's)

good advice, thanks
I've found some really cool stuff at the Bazaar Bazaar events they run at the local GW
The good thing is that when you have the bitz, black reachers actually look good once you convert and massage them a bit. Tac squad boxes do actually help here with some extra arms etc.
Another idea is converting your termies. I turned my AoBR termies to TH/SS... and guess what? I instantly had 4 powerfists to spread around to the Sarge's. But you may not have spare hammers and shields soo... mine came from fantasy bits mixed with SM bitz.
Or find someone at GW to do a bitz swap.
