I'm toying around with my DoA army and I find myself going back and forth on what HQ to include in my army. It seems that a lot of people are really liking Librarians, but I find the lack of invuln worrying. I've seen others throw in a Reclusiarch or Dante. What do you guys normally take?
If your worried about the lack of an inv save give your librarian the terminator armor option, it comes with an inv 5+ or go with the added storm shield for a 3+.
It gets costly at 125-145pts in total.
Support you right to play video games, its for the greater good...
i like the reclusiarch beacuse he can go with the DC that i use.
if you are running DaA then maybe dante? he could go with a vanguard vet squad and they cold come in, not scatter, ad then assault.
Or maybe you could use the sanguinor. he can deepstrike so he would fit the bill and he is a beast on top of that.
I currently run Dante. I think that if you attach him to a Vanguard Veterans squad then they aren't able to use their heroic intervention though.
Falco's Marines will Annihilate the foe on swift wings of vengeance!
now just imagine if you could take 2 dante's.....
OT: I use the Reclusiarch an awful lot, but Dante really is a great option. Running him with either Sanguinary Guard or Honour Guard creates a very effective unit. I prefer Honour Guard myself because they come with a Sanguinary Novitiate. With Dante's Hit & Run you can disengage when someone assaults you, then turn around and assault them with the benefit of Furious Charge thanks to the Novitiate.
A captain with a jumppack and handflamer/power sword has proven to be a good value for the points. Of course, I'm not shy about fielding Mephiston or the Sanguinor either, lol.
Rules for playing massive tabletop games with star wars miniatures!
My standard HQ is a Reclusiarch, but mainly because I use DC (and because I was a massive fan of the old-school Chaplain HQs). I never play high-points games anymore but if I did I'd consider either Astorath or Dante.
I do scribble up army lists where I use a captain, but I never actually put them in the field because I love DC way too much. Some of my quirkier lists include Sternguard squads with Tycho in a drop pod list, but I've never actually tried it and have no idea if it'd be effective. The Reclusiarch just seems to contain the most kickassium, especially when you play him with DC.
