hey, im just starting to get together a IG army and as cadians are way to boring (not boring but lack character). I decided i wanted to make my own regiment. I think iv come up with an ok idea please criticise as long as it constructive or help with individual rules tactics and way of making them individual.
The Knight's of Old.
Recovered from the deathworld of caliban, whilst the younger knights became and formed the DA, the older (too aged for the transformation to astates were drafted into the IG regiments to become just another gear in the imperium of man). Within the first war against the forces of xenos (need to fined a race here, not sure who would be relevant at the time) to calibanite soilders fled together into the abyss, brother alongside brother. They "aquired " tools, money, ammo and vehicles. Blowing off the the old shackles of the order for selling them out and never allowing the new ones to be locked in place by the imperium the old brotherhood was formed. . . . . . .
There armour is adapted cadians with hoods capes bandanas, scarred armour.
Anymore ideas welcome.
It is essentially a pirate army then, eh? They'd need a small ship.
I think about using Cadians, Catachans and some Warhammer Fantasy Human bits mixed between models.
RecklessFable's Journey to Mediocrity (Painting an IG army)
I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
How do you them to play on the field ?
Atm its basics, men and chimera but I'm going to get some rough riders to form knights.
Rough Riders would fit the theme, but they're really not very good units... if you want to do cavalry, you're really better off playing Fantasy. An alternative would be to get some Sentinels, and bling them out to look like new mechanical "steeds." Replace that chainsword thing the kit has with a lance of some kind, and put the ranged weapon on the underside instead. While it might not fit with your theme perfectly, I would love to see a Vendetta painted up to look like a dragon...
I was thinking of playing fantasy but at the moment i'm sticking to 40k, that maybe a future project.
I like both ideas, could you use a 4 legged sentinel or what are the bare minimum of a sentinel model almost like a count as is it just legs and a big gun?
The vendetta idea is perfect, wish it was cheaper to buy. I feel a scrap build coming on
If you're good with modelling, you could fairly easily make a mechanical "steed" and run it as a Sentinel. I think as long as it's on the same size base, it's fine.
Where is the best and cheapest place to buy bases or what can they be made out of nicely? any ideas?
hmmmm *off to ebay for a browse*
