GK Fluff and Starting an Army.

Hi all so with the new book slated for April. I was curious what exactly is the background for the DH? Just looking for a guideline because I like to have a background for an army.

Also from the sound of it the new codex is predominatly GK's? Which sadly sounds very boring I enjoy having options to take. Like the new DE codex has a lot of units, not just a couple units. Will the new codex give you more options? I just dont want an army of only GK.

Thanks all. If its true that all GK vehicles ignore Shaken and Stunned...wow amazing .

Armies: 40k: Imperial Guard, Orks Fantasy: Skaven

GK's are the best of the best. They were The Emperors last gift to Mankind to fight deamonic forces. Without them the imperium would crumble as heresy could turn whole systems to chaos from a single infected soul. It is the inquisitors role to root heresy out and with their warbands of talented individuals to prevent deamons from being summoned. When they fail this is when the grey knights move in. They are the last resort and are the elite of the imperium. When a normal space marine is something to be feared by their sheer bulk and physical power the grey knights are so much more. They are all psykers so whilst they have to go through physical endurance they have to go through mental endurance. This is what makes a grey knight because to fight corruption you have to be uncorruptable. Part of the training of a grey knight is to defend their mind and soul from corruption and years and years is spent to achieving this. No grey knight has ever fallen to chaos EVER they are the purest and most loyal of the emperors servants. Whats also so heroic about the Grey knights is that they seek no reward for their actions or even glorification. That is why no normal human in the 41st millenium knows of the grey knights. There are countless times when hundreds of grey knights would sacrifice themselves to defend billions of human lives who would never know the sacfrice made or that the grey knights even exist. A grey knight is capable of killing almost anything with groups of 10 grey knights known to defend an imperial strongpoint for weeks before being being overrun despite against million to one odds. To help them achieve this the grey knights have access to the most potent weaponry in the imperium and whilst normal space marine chapters have few terminator suits the grey knights work is of so much importance that at any one time practicly the entire chapter can be fittied with terminator armour. (Which is why you will be able to take terminators and troops)

If you are interested in fluff for grey knights read the grey knights omnibus which you can buy from GW. That is very effective at portraying the grey knights.

Rules wise the codex will mainly be grey knights however you can take assasins, inquisitors and warbands. It is also possible for you to field a inquisitor army however the emphasis is on the grey knights. And don't worry about options as to start with there are around 10 HQ's 7 elites 2 troops 2 FA and 4 HS roughly. Don't worry you won't get bored with options to field...

And yes fortitude is a psychic power that gets rid of shaken and stunned results

    hope i helped
Nothing more funny than 3 inquisitors with sanctify when facing deamons. They cant do anything while you stand in front of them having a tee break.

    Well written. Very well written.

Also, no tech is really forbidden for them to use. In fact, from what I've heard, they're allowed to develop/aquire their own outside of the Mechanicus, and in essence, tell them to Buzz off when they come poking around. When a GK Techmarine is sent to Mars for training, they "follow" Mechanicus procedures, but effectively ignore them once they leave. Their loyalty is to the Empire.

Also, any marine chapter that can safely tell the Big Blue Babies to sod off is hilarious to me.

you mean the Ultramarines? well, if the GK can tell them to shove it, the rest of the Marines (Raven Guard, Blood Ravens, Blood Angels, Dark Angels etc... may gang up to stop the GK's fun!

Nope. Not only will you not find any models, the discussion is moot: There's a new codex coming out in april, so everything is going to change anyway.

A few good army lists are posted, but in general, Power Armour grey knights, as many as you can fit, and an HQ let by a brother captain. Can't go wrong there.

    Edit:

For armour, Landraiders can work, though some (like myself) prefer Dreadnaughts. Still, with the new codex coming out, the only safe purchase is to get PAGKs and GKTs. As many as you can get. More than you can get, and sell the remainder. Cause seriously, they'll sell like hotcakes.

If i were you i would save up till the codex comes out on the 9th of April. Till then plot and list build so on the day you know exacly what you want and won't end up spending all your money on some cool units only to find out they have no place in any lists you want to play...
