Hey, I just played some 1250 pts of nurgle marines in a GW for the Badab War event (If you know what that is)
but what i can work with is:
Chapter Master Ezekiel Solisto (Pedro Kantor)
5 Man Assault Terminator
Dreadnought w/ Assault cannon and power fist or auto cannon
10 sniper scouts, i dont plan to use them in the new edition id rather have a scout bike squad because the red scorpions have a 1-0 choice for scouts and cant infiltrate etc.
Tactical Squad w/ Heavy bolter
Tactical Squad w/ Multi Melta & Rhino
Combat Squad w/ Melta gun
5 Man assault squad
Devastators w/ 2 Lascannons and 2 Plasma Cannons
Devastators w/ 4 Rocket Launchers (All from far to many extra egs lyng around and no other weapons
Fully Magnetized Predator
Whats my best bet against nurgle marines as far as tactics, and would an honor gaurd be a good choice for my next unit?
Against plague marines you need plenty of weapons that ignore FNP.
HQ: Pedro is ok as is a cheap librarian or chaplin. dont spend too many points on the HQ, just take one.
Elites: Termies are a real problem for plague marines as S8 PF attacks, L-claws or TH/SS will go right through them. I think I would prefer 2-3 TH/SS and the rest claws. If you like standard shooty termies then take cyclones.
Troops: Tac squads with plasma guns and a PF. For the heavy weapon take anything but a HB. Razorbacks with plasma+LC can give you much needed fire support to scythe down PMs.
Fast: MM attack bikes to kill tanks then scoot around at mid range popping PMs and contesting objectives at the end by turboboosting.
Heavy: AC/2LC preds are great as are vindicators.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
So pretty much grab everything plasma and Melta and as many power weapons as possible. The plague marines will just lie down and die.

Hmm, not so much plasma methinks. I played mechanized Death Guard for a long time and the first part is correct, get into assault with lots of fists. The lightning claws are nice in theory, strike before me (PM are I3), but their defensive grenades mean you lose that attack on the charge, so one less for everything, but the claws only wound on a 5+, at least the fists/hammers wound on a 2 and deny all saves. Terminators are the bane of PM. Forget the command squad and pack in as many TH/SS assault termies as possible. Your 2+/3++ makes you even tougher than he is, and your hammers will be annihilating squads left and right.
Of course, you won't always play PM, and termy heavy lists have huge disadvantages against most armies, just not Death Guard.
Back to the plasma though, no. You want melta because meltas are assault weapons. To get the bang for your buck in plasma, you want to be rapid firing. This is what the plague marines want you to do. They are tougher than you, and short range fire fights are what they live for. You want to fire your shot or two and charge.
My two cents.
If you're just working with the models you have, then tat drednought is good, and the las/plas devastators can outrange the PM's, so they're keepers too.
