So what do the IG players think about these 2 units and tactics?
IG as a CC force to be feared?
1.) Bane Wolf as an assault support vehicle? Chem Cannon is a defensive weapon and the hull flamer can be the 1 weapon fired after moving 12" to tank shock* a unit into a nice formation for a double template attack, maybe, hopefully move them closer to a squad (see Blob below...) with a bunch of flamer templates or plasma special weapon squad in the case of terminators/nobz, can you say rapid fire range
Not sure this should be used on the TEQ units though, hmmm? The Chem cannon/hv. flamer won't hurt those guys much but the shock will still move them into rapid range...?
*models will hopefully be in front of the tank and/or to the side so the hull flamer can be used, so this will require some nifty planning and setup, i.e. direction of approach and proper distance... if they fall back then even better depending on the shock direction they may fall back into your Blob!!
Also be sure to have a large infantry blob/special weapon squad (or two) or a few command squads from the combined Blob(power weapon/power fists can only help the CC!) - or two in case one has to shoot non-assault weapons at the TEQ units. Have these units nearby to engage or let the vehicle movement speed protect you in close combat depending on how many troops are close enough to assault next turn before you withdraw...?
Poor man's demolisher?
2.) Medusa tanks w/ either weapon load-out: cheaper/longer range (+12-24", depending which ammo you take), but less front/side armor, no lumbering behemoth... compared to the demolisher, as an alternative or in addition to the demolisher... used in support of the Leman Russ tank squadrons?

You can build up a fairly decent assault force, but it involves several elements all working together: Straken, Priests, Blob Squads and Commissars. You thus need to invest a ton of points and the end result is only 'decent', not great. It can definitely be fun, but without long range shooty elements and a LOT of bodies... it will never be feared.
Most people tend to take Manticores as Demolisher substitutes. Who doesn't love d3 S10 pieplates every turn?!
I love the d3 pie-plates, barrage or direct option is nice, and the huge range!!
It cannot move and fire, unless direct fire (no big deal I think on this though...), no squadron so limited number for the heavy slot, and the AP is high enough to not penetrate MEQ and TEQ units, so that would affect tactics. Points are same as demolisher for reduced armor values similar to medusa AV. I could see it being useful depending on what opponent you have.
I will have to try one just for the D3 pieces of pie Plus the rest of the army can deal with AP3 and AP2 units...
If things go right I'll be testing my first 40+commissar+priest blob tonight. Should be interesting.
No. Way too many armies are better at close combat than us. If you build a list for CC from the ground up then it won't be helpless but you'll be listhammering at every step. And I wonder how much fun it would be to play a 200-model, tactically inflexible IG army; I've seen more than one Horde-Ork player burn out quickly.IG as a CC force to be feared?
The Bane Wolf is a torpedo, not a support vehicle, although you have the right idea about using tank shocks to line the enemy up for a barbecue.
The Medusa can substitute for a Demolisher but the reduced armor is a severe drawback. Half of a Russ' appeal is that it rarely gets shaken, whereas every opponent worth playing against can make easy work of a Chimera-equivalent.

Sure, those units can be used how you describe them. But the rest of the army has to be considered too. No IG unit works in a vacum.
