I have a bit of a quandary
You see I have only really played two armies, pure Grey Knights and Necrons.
I played the Grey Knights for a good long time until I fancied a change, sold them and bought Necrons. I have lavished much time on the Necrons and they have been in the running for best painted army at many GW tournaments. So I quite like them.
Now, with a brand new book and models coming out I am sorely tempted to go back to Grey Knights. So, what's the problem?
You see I sell one army to buy another (cannot afford to have models languishing in the cabinet).
So, do I sell the Necrons to buy new Grey Knights OR hang on until the new Necron codex comes out and they get new rules etc?
Ahhhhhh, and I don't have that long to decide. Rumours are that Grey Knights go on advance order on 9th March.
Now, I know this is not the Necron forum but please try to be objective.

I'll try and be as objective as possible.
Which part of the hobby do you like the most? If it is the gaming, you already have an army painted (and to a good standard by the sounds of things). Yes, it is underpowered at the moment, but you have waited this long, a few more months won't make that much of a difference. And let's be honest, every man and his dog are going to want Grey Knights next month. You don't want to be like one of those band wagon jumpers do you?
Having said that, if you prefer the modelling and painting side more, here is the perfect opportunity to start up a whole new army and get stuck into that side of the hobby.
On a side note, bit of a coincidence that both armies you like use a lot of bolt gun metal paint
From that respect I should sell the Necrons (which by the way are rusted metal and not bolt gun metal).
Another thing that should appeal is that I have to paint every tiny detail on a model, and what attracted me to Grey Knights the first time around were the detailed models and the low model count. That way I could lavish detail on them all without it taking ages.
I am starting to lean on the side of returning to Grey Knights.
sell the necrons, and buy storm ravens, and al the new GK minatures!
Considering the time and effort you've put into you 'crons, I'd keep them. Few peopkle still play 'Crons and considering te levels of rediculous in the GK codex, everyone and their mother will probably be playing them, not to mention you be riding the new codex bandwagon =P I'd wait for the new crons before deciding. You don't want to sell them now and regret it later. By then, the bandwagon will have shifted and the new GK dex will have had time to settle so you could make a proper descision. If you go with 'Crons, you can show off your then vintage beautiful models to those on the bandwagon =P

With the Necron being an old codex there is very little interest for people to buy them making the return on your investment very low. I vote fore keeping the necrons and very slowly picking up Grey Knights here and there. Then consider selling the necrons when the new codex comes out for a good price or keeping them.
I like the rational point of view from Zagman, that I may not get a good return on investment from the Necrons as no one is playing them.
I have opted to keep the Necrons, perhaps buy the odd Grey Knight as and when (but not jump on the bandwagon) and wait for the new Necron Codex and at least be able to, hand on heart, say I have been playing Necrons for years (and not jumping on the bandwagon).
Thanks for the comments, they have given me much food for thought that has helped me reach a conclusion.
