There is an upcoming doubles tournament at my local gaming store for two 1250 point lists for a total of 2500 points per side, shared force organization chart so only one person needs to meet the FOC requirements but that also means only 2 HQ 6 Troops
3 Elite 3 Fast and 3 Heavy between two people.
What Im looking for is Combo Ideas, not just limited to SM or any specific Chapter, I'm just curious as to what other people could come up with given these restrictions.
The obvious tactic and one that we are considering is CSM Lash+JOTWW/Large Templates.
Another possiblity, not one that really combos anything but would be interesting on the field would be Blood Angels + Necrons, using a Nightbringer, 3 Monoliths and Pariahs (Since the necron player isn't running any units with the necron special rule, He cant be brought bellow the 25% because there are no models that this applies to, he cant phase out) 3 Assault Squads with Land Raiders + Mephiston.
I'd like to see what anyone else can come up with, be as cheesy and as imaginative as possible. We plan on running cheese anyway
Have him spam some IG blastguns, and have you spam some DA meltabiker can openers.

Telling us your armies may be helpful,
However, IG with # Astropath for outflanking & getting reserves, (with sly marbo, scout sents, airbourne melta stormies / any other outflankers you want inc vend/valks)
and a army that has problems with reserves - chosen CSM lists (and obliterators / lash winged prince?)
or Nids? you could really try to spam out troops.
Or orc boy mobs x many and ranged anti-tank from? guard?
SM MOTF and dreads and eldar wraithlords for a you-can't touch me list?
To be fair the question is really very open ended. that's putting it modestly

My partner and I aren't limited to what armies we are going to use, thats why I left the question open ended. The only armies we probably wouldn't use are GK and Sisters.
What would I think? Well, I like Tau firepower, battlesuits put out a lot of fire, maybe something like:
Tau take elites for Battlesuits, heavy support for Broadsides, maybe 1 FA for pathfinders for reducing cover saves and stuff? (9 Battlesuits, 6 Broadsides and a squad of Pathfinders comes to right about 1250 )
Dark Angels Deathwing for, well, terminator troops, maybe one FA for bikers with teleport homer? (should be able to get about 20 termies)
Sure, it'd be rather small, but the firepower would be hard to beat, and a good deathwing is nearly unstoppable!
Also would be fun to do shooty Tau with CC tyranids, the extremes of the 40k spectrum!

Tau Empire: We never stop hiding from you
I kinda cooked up a list using BA assaulting capabilities and Tau firepower. The tau list runs a full complement of broadsides (all 3 heavies completly filled with TL Railguns), and the BA list runs all kinda of assaulty guys. The only force slot not filled is troops (3 open). It looks like it could be a lot of fun to play.
I'm like the idea of Tau but aside from shooting what else do can they do? What other abilities do they bring to the table that would he benificial to the other army?
That's all they do, really. Massive squads of Kroot have uses, but their big thing is shooting and killing tanks.
I honestly don't see the point in taking split function lists - either go for all CC or all shooty, all gunline or all fast movement.
Tau and SM work nicely on the all shooty - broadsides, vindicators, crisis suits and sternguard. If anything gets more than halfway across the board you fail add pedro to make the SG scoring units, and then all the troop you need is cheap squads of sniper scouts and warriors.
Basically overload one aspect of your opponent and those people with 'split' forces will die in pieces.
Edit- just noticed the bit about FoC but my point still stands - broadsides, crisis suits, Baal predators, astorath, death company, firewarriors in fishes
