I'm new to space marines and the forums so i thought I would let everyone know how my first game went. I just finished putting together my Iron Hands and played a game against a eldar player and almost tabled him. We were playing dawn of war and the 2 objective mission (cant remember what it was called) He had eldrad, big unit of wraith guard, 6 shining spears, +- 10 jet bikes, wave seprent with fire dragons and 3 wave serpents with dire avengers. I was using MOTF. sniper scouts, CC scouts in storm, 2 tact squads in rhinos, 3 T-L auto cannon dreads, 3 ironclads in pods and 3 speeders. after it was all said and done he had one wave serpent with 5 dire avengers left and i had only lost a ironclad,5 scouts, 4 marines and 2 speeders!
Stole the initiative and wiped out 10 wraith guard with shooting.
turn 2 scouts failed to kill wave serpent and were wiped out by the dire avengers that jumped out. 3rd ironclad poded in and killed all the fire dragons with a heavy flamer.
turn 3 land speeder storm flamed the Dire Avengers that killed the scouts killed all but 4 which failed check and fled off the board.
turn 4 Shining spears and jet bikes came in and turbo boosted on the left flank
turn five i wiped out 6 shining spears and about 10 jet bikes (that pretty much ended the game.)
I know the MOTF army may not be competitive but it sure is fun to play!
Honestly I don't know why people dont like the MOTF. I love him, in fact he's the only HQ i will field aside from a special char. I cant tell you how many times he has turned the tide in close combat or fixed the Demolisher cannon on a vindicator. Lately i put him on a bike and put him in the middle of a block of tanks and dreads, it has worked pretty well for the games i have played. my only wish is that servitors could also ride bikes (or move fast enough that i could keep up with the MOTF) i like having 100% chance of fixing things, none of this 4+ crap!!
I've never done TL auto cannons on a dread, how effective do you find it? i typically have a bunch of different types of dreads on the field (im another Iron Hands player)
BTW im working on an Iron Hands Codex Just for fun games and such you should throw in your input sometime and help design it!!

not that i have a whole lot of experience with them (played Chaos space marines earlier today) but against eldar they rock! they won the game for me against the eldar and allowed me to tie the CSM.
I've heard a lot of people argue that they are not worth it. Maybe one of them isn't but three will scare people(and they're cheap). They suffer against 3+ saves but if you focus your fire and support them, they do alright.
as far as a Iron Hands codex goes i would change the master of the forge to an Iron Father. Maybe use the MOTF stats and give him a +4 invul sv for being mostly machine and a crozius arcanum. i need to find the book and read it again.
