I have a SOB army that I have not play since the witch hunters codex. I have the codex on order, but I was wondering what tank, vehicle is considered the best for universal use.
well, the exorcist is concidered as a 'must have' by many players, ant the fact that you can equip the immolator with 3 diffrent weapons and it's transport capability makes it a versatile unit
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
Thanks I was cosidering both. I have little experience with imperial guard are they themselves a good choice or are they simply canon fodder so players will leave your better assests alone?
You'd be better off sticking a normal infantry platoon of them in a building to provide long range support with lascannons (they are a good choice since the sisters can't use them) and have an armoured fist squad for mobility.
Stuffing the guard into cover and giving them some ML's for anti-tank/infanty or LC's for better long range anti-tank which is what our WH tend to lack would be a ver fine idea and one that I am making right now.
Thanks Long Range LasCannons could help quite a bit.
The exorcist, being are most well-armoured vehicle that doesn't cost 250 points and has a 48" S8 AP1 D6 weapon makes it a pretty good purchase with your points.
At first I thought the chimera with stormtroopers or inquisitors was a good deal, but then I realized IG drives it, so it has BS3. Otherwise, a multi-laser and heavy bolter combined and carrying up to 12 people is very nice indeed.
The Immolator, having the choice between anti-infantry and anti-tank, is also a good buy, especially when you get it with a dominion squad, (5 flame templates or 5 melta-shots with the immolator and dominions.)
Every whisper of the future from the Warp speaks of a hundred battles lost, a thousand lives devoured and a million enemies born. -- Inquisitor Lord Babel
For versatility...try to include an Exorcist. As others have mentioned its probably our best available tank and cheap too.
An Immolator of any configuration adds another dimension to your army (I add a Hunter Killer Missle to mine for little point cost) and I would advise trying to pick one up as a transport for another unit rather than taking it as a HS choice.
Rhinos are also really cool and I take them as a transport option with smoke and a Hunter Killer Missle, just because you can, and they frequently pay for themselves in one shot...how's that for versatility?
