The way I read the psybolt ammo rules, it strengthens all appropriate guns by 1. Can anyone find a loophole whereby my Land Raider crusader could take psybolt ammo for the assault cannon and not for the hurricane bolters. Or did I possibly interpret the rule wrong? I kind of hope I did. I would just love to have a s7 TL Assault cannon with rending but would hate to lose defensive weapon status for the HB's. I love moving 6 and shooting everything as if it was fast but wouldn't mind having the equivalent of a twin-linked psycannon on a raider. It would be awesome if the godhammer raider had the TL assault cannon. Add a multi-melta on there... now that would be an awesome tank with psybolt ammo!
Rules for playing massive tabletop games with star wars miniatures!
I'm pretty sure it says "weapons" in the rules, meaning it improves both the hurricane bolters AND assault cannon str by 1. It lists the weapons that gain the 1 str, both assault cannon and hurricane bolters are listed.
Tau my love! You are back!
That's how I read it as well. It certainly is an issue by doing away with defensive weapons, but THB, having 12 S5 rounds heading towards the enemy is a lot preferrable to not being able to fire a defensive weapong every so often.
I dunno, being able to move full 12" forward, be able to shoot with the PotMs as well as a pair of hurricane bolters seems pretty useful. Same goes for Stormravens with hurricane bolters. I'd never take psybolt ammo at the cost loosing those shots while on the move even if it means loosing out on S5. S4 has always worked for crusaders and stormravens. Why fix what isn't broke?
I guess it's just a package deal. It's not as big of a deal on the storm raven, you can still move 6 inches at a time and fire your things.
Edit: But yeah, sucks on Land Raiders
