An 8+ dread list? I know blood angels can field it, but is it viable (obviously not very in objective games, but in KP?)
i haven't actually tried it but if you also did some tac squads in rhinos then it may be able to be competitive. at 2000 pts you could get
3x furioso dread in pod with extra armour and your choice of fist or talon, in a pod
2x tac squad in rhino. 10 man, no upgrades
1x ten man squad of DC in rhino, no upgrades
2x death company dreadnought in pod with fist or talon
3x dread with missile launcher/autocannon and autocannon.
I can't speak specifically to an 8 dread list, but I almost always run a 5 or 6 Dread list from the vanilla marine codex. Ironically, it actually does better in objective matches than in killpoints. In 2000 points I often take 6 dreads of varying weapons, 3 tac squads, and a scout squad with Telion. That gives me scoring units all over the place, and the Dreads take a lot of fire off said scoring units. However, in a kill point mission, they are 6 not-all-that-difficult-to-destroy killpoints. There have been plenty of games where I have 11+ killpoints on the field, often more than even IG players.
But in the end, it is always worth it for me, even if I don't do well. I have an inordinate fascination with Dreads, and it is always fun the first time I play someone new to watch his eyes pop and I lay out all six dreads. I really should put some of those people on candid camera
I wonder how many you loose each round?
I dont ask with irony or contemnt, just honest curiosity because ive never seen anything like this and i wonder given the number of power fists and anti tank this days.
Praise be to the Emperor!!
With 3 Furiosos and 2 DC dreds podding in the list is probably going to give enemy some real trouble. If you equip them with Blood Talons they are more than capable of actually ripping a whole squad of marines apart before any hidden power fist has the chance to strike... and even if, by chance, the hidden power fist gets the chance to strike, actually hurting a Furioso is damnably hard... I would be personally more worried about how many meltas/lascannons enemy has.
