In light of the new Grey Knight dex, it seems possible that soon I will be unable to use inquisitors within my guard army, and to be honest this may lead me to scrap my guard (apart from apocalypse games).
Is there any way around this lack of inquisition? I know currently I may use the WH dex, but I can see this becoming a sister of battle dex soon enough...
If this does occur, anyone have any suggestions what I can replace my inq's with? I play all infantry, and use the inq's for counter attack, supporting the line ( a function commisars are designed for I suppose), and fire support (psycannon, 3 HB's,)
Inquistion force WIP. Pics on posts 17 and 23.
Guard armies don't really need INQ allies anymore. The only things I will miss are the Psychic Hoods and the fun you can have with Mystics. I never did get around to using an allied Sisters squad and the "Sister with Book" isn't needed to keep blobs going since we have stubborn commissars.
As to your question:
The servitors can be in heavy weapons teams easily enough.
Assault defense is always a challenge with foot since it should consist of layers of troops that die/break backed up with elements to shoot the enemy assault unit to death.
But blobs are worked well for me right now. So much so that I'm finding it hard to go back to full mech...
You could also just use the GK codex and use Coteaz and take a warband army.
I was more thinking stormbolter guardsmen for 7 points a pop. At 35 each, the Jokers (while having a high damage output) aren't that efficient and die fas....then again all the warband henchmen except crusaders do. Maybe 2 or 3 max per warband if you take them.
That was intended as a joke. I think It would run something like 2 Jokers, 2 servitors and an inq with a psycannon in a chimera x as many times as the points and slots would allow - 1. The other warband would be 5 crusaders and 4 DK assassins and an Inq with a null rod in a Land Raider.
Praise the Emperor and pass the promethium!
DK assassins have pretty absurd damage output and they're I5 !! It's a lot of damage for their points.
I do like the idea of a henchman army quite a bit. ATM I'm holding out for something cooler with Witchhunters but it certainly has scope for creating some unique armies.
