    Fielding Vanguard in fun games

    Ok im playing a 5K a side game with orks and SM played by me (2500 each) vs two friends with Nids and SW(2500 points each).

    Now i really want to field a unit of vanguard as i think they are fun and i have so many vanguard models with different weapons it seems a waste not to try them.

    Now please dont just say dont field them cos i wouldn't in my competative lists but i want to try them.

    ATM i have a 260 point list which has 6 models in it.
    I have 2 normal models
    2 models both with 2 lightening claws
    SGT with SShield and relic blade
    and 1 model with a PF.
    All with jump packs

    I want to keep this unit about this price but could add up to say another 30 points at max.
    How would you field them for this point level as although i just want to try them i want to have them be useful. My idea was that they will be more aimed at SW than the Nids.

    err... that's not 260 points, it's 320 points. (6x men with jump packs is over 200 points) weapons = sgnt has relic blade, storm shield, two with two lightening claws each (you get them one at a time - so that's 4x bought) and a power fist. 6 times x = y, add a power fist = over 110 points.
    or, 320 points.
    I found your 30 points! (take out one twin LC model to reduce points by 60, or one standard vanguard = 30 less points.)
    Get those SW devastators!

    Thanks - i took the unit from a very old list i made.
    I think i had them coming out of a drop pod so hadn't bought the jump packs. lol Silly me.
    That was the aim - To get the longfangs.
    So i would think a 5 man squad could do that. I think getting rid of one of the lightening claw models would do it as the 5 that are left should easily take out a marine squad and they will likely die the following turn.
    So drop him and its back to 260 and 5 models (the same price my 10 man sterguard unit cost lol)
