Can someone post a link/instructions to make carapace armour for guardsmen?
I mix a cadian/catachan command squad with space marine scouts. Use the torso of the scouts and the legs if you wish so they look bulky enough and then the arms and weapons from command sprues. You can use the scout weapons too as they don't look out of place, I use entire scouts to be honest as their proportions do not look out of place to a normal human physique.
Hope this helped

I have personally used Green Stuff to make knee-pads and elbow-pads for my carapace-vets, similar to the knee- and elbow-pads on Kasrkin. I found it pretty simple to do (put a smoothed blob on each joint, wait for it to dry, cut it to shape).
As above (scout torso's work well)
- However, the question why does spring to mind - you increase their cost by 29% to improve their save by 1... a 17% increase. buy more guardsmen. (that's with a vet squad - even worse on a command squad)

Well most small arms in 40k are AP5 (bolters and equivalents, stuff like flamers and so on) if you're needing to make armour saves against light shooting carapace is the difference between a save and no save at all which is obviously worth it.
The only instance I can see it really being useful though is for the company command squad if you're taking an HQ upgrade like Creed or especially Straken. If you can have your guys pass more saves and stay alive that means more ablative wounds for Straken too. Having said that a medic is also a great buy and he boosts your cover saves AND works vs AP3 shots too.
Copy, Improve, Innovate
Heres a pretty good tutorial. It works well with scout legs, but not very well with cadian plastics I'm afriad. The armour either ends up looking too small or too big.
