I saw this neat little combo and was wondering if anybody had considered using it... or even if it had actually been used and worked well or not. Techmarine can use Bolster to give a piece of terrain 3+ cover, then the Vindi can deploy in it and use Stealth to get +1 cover save, therefore having a 2+ cover save. I suppose this would also work with any squad that wants to sit in terrain and have a Librarian use Shrouding, but the uses there are limited as no Grey Knight squad should just be sitting in cover doing nothing, unless its very close to the end of the game and they want to hold an objective.
This works a lot better if your army is vehicle heavy anyway, so the cost of the Techmarine isn't purely for the 2+ save, but also for fixing your vehicles. Or if you want an Orbital Relay or Conversion Beamer.
I hadn't thought of that combo, but it seems like a stirling suggestion old bean.
It gives him 2+ cover, but spending nearly as much as your basic Strike Squad (since the Techmarine comes without a NFW and Storm Bolter) to give one model in your army a better save seems a bit... extreme. Not to mention he eats up an elite slot that you can cram a Vendread into.

I use 2 techmarines with orbital strike at 2.5k pts, they may not be as competitive as a vendread but they do provide hilarity, and OMG when it goes right, churning out 6 large blasts on turn one against greentide is sexual.
