What Army Will be our Biggest Competition?

Hey I was forum trolling around the different army forums to see what they thought of our new 'Dex. A few seemed worried but most have seen ways to counter our strengths. I was just wondering who you all would consider our biggest competition? Which army will give us the most headaches and heartache? Please discuss below.

I'd say IG is going to give us the most problems. Why? Well, they give everyone the most problems. GKs are, at the end of the day, Space Marines (*sigh*), and the same tools that kill them, kill us.

IG's got a lot of SM killy action, which is what makes the army so good. So, my vote goes for IG.

yep. Too much AV14 armor and AP3 and AP2 pie plates. Plus high quantity of shot, particularly plasma and melta.

Lol. I'm sitting in the silent portion of my school's library, and I literally laughed out loud. Necrons? Who voted for necrons! That's hilarious!!

Tyranids will be nasty with Shadow in the warp. Eldar could pose a problem for a similar reason. Both will hack our psykers to bits. For shooting Idk which army, I am inlcined to think Tau could hurt us badly. They are an army to be reckoned with when played well, lots of low AP long range weapons, tanks that can't be hit, troops that jump out of the way after shooting at you. Urgh, I hate 'em. Guard can be countered all too easily by the Vindicare, he has that 4d6 penetrator shot which I guarantee will remove LRBT's quite easily. But that's only any good if you can hit them, and the Tau can't be hit so easily. They always seem to have some crazy shit on their tanks that gives saves against your shots.

Meh, when they're at that range you just shoot them up and then assault so who cares about the pyschic powers?

Not really. rolling a 14+ on four dice is still only 58.3% and you still have to hit so you have a 48.6% chance to do damage. After that you still have to kill it. The actual chance of a Vindicare wrecking AV14 is only 19.7%. So maybe only once a game.

I'd save the Vindicare to kill the targets he was meant to hurt such as squad leaders, special weapons/wargear, officers, and other such annoying models.

Are you keeping in mind the Re-Roll for High BS?

Yup, but I didn't take rending into account so I'd have to take another stab at the maths. My estimate is that it'd go about maybe another 12-15 percent.

Sounds about right, the maths looked a bit low to me.

    Edit:

    And it's AP1

Got the AP1 as well. Great, the rending really adds to the complexity when multiple dice are used. Don't know if I want to spend the time to write up a program for this.

    /end tangent

Back on topic. I still see IG as being the biggest threat to GKs at this point just due to the sheer amount of high S and low AP firepower that they can bring to the game. I have personally played about 4 games as IG and 1 as Tyranids against the new GK book and so far have a 4 wins and one loss (Tyranids actually won, the loss was with IG). Granted the book is still new and the rules/strategies are still being figured out so I'm not taking that record as the norm.
