now that the Codex has been out for almost a month, i was interested in what tactics people have come up with for a greywing or knightwing army (GK version of Deathwing). What works what doesn't? Paladins vs Terminators? a mix of both? squad loadout and support units etc. just wondering what ideas were out there and what you guys have been playing around with.
My Dice keep me in check
I play DriagoWing, basically Driago, Paladins, and Dreadknights with Personal teleporters.
So far most opponents have had difficulty finding enough firepower to really hurt me. I designed it as a themed army, my "Army of Heroes" and did not expect it to fair very well. I absolutely love watching my opponents sweat as the dreadknights arrive on their flank and everything they pump into my paladins just bounces off... Just remember to use Driago as a lascannon catcher.
Currently, I'm approximately 12-1-1 with it. It has faired surprisingly well on the table for a foot slogging army. Scoring dreadknights really added a great deal the to viability of the army.
I'm looking to do Greywing but the biggest problem I think is getting the army to arrive, cause you have nothing on turn 1 and the rest of your army will only show up on a 4+! So far the best solution to the problem I've come up with is to take Mordrak with a few ghost knights and a librarian with shrouding; this allows me to have the psychic comm on turn 2 and I can use the shrouding to shield them and the scouting dreadknight(s).
However some tournaments don't allow special characters, so what should I do then; all I can think of is spending 55pts and field a psychic inquisitor and hide him from my opponent's LOS?
Alright Zagman, you zealot! You've convinced me. I played deathwing for a long time and always enjoyed it. Paladins and DKs are so freakin' cool anyway, and, by your frequent and enthusiastic testimony, apparently quite effective. You've got me excited about trying 'em out.
check out the thread immediately preceding this one; draigowing something or other. Zagman's list is over there.
Just had two games in yesterday. 2k against shooty Coteaz, he called it turn 5 in a kill point mission. I had lost 5 models and earned more KPs than I had in my army.
Second games was only 1k against Tau, I fielded 9 models. And to see my opponent sitting there sweating about how to kill 9 guys was funny. Again it was KPs and he called it in T5 as I had earned more KPs than I had and he had yet to earn any. Favorite part of the game for me, Heavy Incinerator template touches 12 fire warriors... Fist full of S5 dice, a paladin takes a wound... no casualties...
@Ezekielz Look for the Driagowing: how to pull it off... thread, or I have them posted somewhere in the Grey Knight Experinces So Far thread. Any other questions, feel free to ask or PM me.
