So the Vindicare assassin. He's quickly become my favourite Elite choice for his all-around awesome abilities.
My opponents, however, are starting to catch onto this and are fixing to eliminate him quickly (usually first). Any thoughts on how to extend his life-time a bit?
I toss him in cover (which of course gives him the 3+ cover save); but I find that even then when my opponent fires every gun he has at him; he goes down within one or two turns. Now, this could be a good thing; watching my opponent fire his only Leman Russ at the lone little assassin was amusing and I'll admit that was one less turn he was firing it at my GKs.
He's still a 175 point model and while I can make his points back easily, I'd really like to see him stick around to make back maybe double or triple.
If you infiltrate far away from the rest of your own units, make sure you put him somewhere that forces the opponent to divert parts of his forces to deal with him, and as Zagman said, you don't have to infiltrate aggressively. I've come to place him far back enough that the opponent has to send someone after him.

Deploy vehicles in front of him. Move the vehicles in such a way so that he can only see (and can only be seen by) the thing he is shooting at.
Also, he's about a Halberd less than a naked Librarian (since you no longer need an Inquisitor to take a Temple Assassin), but yeah. Put him in cover in such a way that LOS is blocked except from the angles you want him to shoot, block LOS to him with your vehicles, and if they still focus everything on him, be happy!

"Innocentia Probat Nihil"
Again re utilizing his 36" range but also I find my opponents have more threatening problems on the board (or at least I give them more problematic units that they have to contend with.)
Hell I had a game the other day where the enemy came in and assaulted all the units around him, then continued on leaving him in the bell tower.. He is cool and handy but there are bigger threats.
I also had a techmarine in that list so he had a 2+ save.. which meant my opponent didn't really shoot anything at him once he saw how much it wasted his shooting.
Much must be risked in war.
