I am a cadian collector with a small army soon to be enlarged at games day 2004. I"m aiming for a 2000pnt army but I'm not sure which elites to chose. I've already got some storm troopers but i dodn't have the new codex or much battling experience please tell me all about the different elites chioces and how they"ve worked for you

nothing could posiblie go wrong, possibly go wrong, hmm thats the first thing thats ever gone wrong!

stormies are always good! hardend vets, bs4 plasam shot are always a good thing. ratling snipers do very well againts high toughness creaters, ogryns r kinda a waste especially for like 80$ techpreist...eh. um so yea id get 5 hardend vets with a vet serge(which makes it 6) with assorted weapons depending on who your fighting and put them in a chimera with a heavy flamer and watch the enemy fry.

Well you might want to consider the elite choice for Harden Veterans. They get the use of 3 special weapons(Gernade Launcher, melta-gun, etc) and a choice of a special weapons crew and the transport. As well as a BS 4 just like the Storm Troopers.

I like this approach and think I get more for the point cost. Of course Storm Troopers are good and I have a group of them as well.

I am finding that my elites don't get that much action in small point games under 2000 points, but in large point games I bring them as part of my command support choices.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

Ratlings can add some oomph to your army that can take down alot of priority items; but aren't cadianish.

hehe, that'd be cute.

personally i just use the Cadian Sniper model and call em Ratlings.

as for Elites. Stormies or Vets. pertty much your two best choices right there.

i like to deepstrike them.

the best thing about Vets is that they're affected by alot of the Doctrines. unlike SS. but i also like SS cause they have good models

either or will serve your well. just don't use Grenadiers, waste o' points. deepstrike these badboys.

I'm a big fan of the ratling snipers myself. Of course, I'm one of the few deviants who actually likes the models too...

They are great, as has been stated here before, for taking down big targets that MUST die. I like using them against TMC's, Wraithlords, Obliterators, Greater Daemons and Princes, C'tan and other high TO baddies that tend to show up in many armies.

I'd recommend the Hardened Vets, 3 bs4 special weapons and one bs4 heavy weapon is nothing to laugh at.

This weekend, one of my vet squads took out two Necron Heavy Destroyers with their Melta guns. That was a priceless moment right there!

I like the ratling models to but i think i will do that convertion, you know, just to be different.
So stormies, harden vets and converted ratlings cool thanks guys. I've used stormies and ratlings before but what about the advantages of using hardend vets. What are the ups and downs of using hardend vets rather than using a unit of kasrkins?
