Yep, whats the best set up for a 10-man assault squad?
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
I think 2 flamers and a power fist (or thunder hammer) is the best set-up.
2 plasma pistols are too expensive.
if you give storm shield to sergant then if you roll 1 or 2 you lose power fist/weapon and 9 Ld
Yeah that's pretty much it. I think that depending on how many assault squads you are using, 2 meltas and a PF is probably the way to go, since mobility on an anti-tank unit is priceless. However, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that an assault squad kitted out in this manner is an optimal unit for killing MC's and HQ type units. Assault squads really shine in punching out Troops choices like guardsmen equivalents, and that naturally means that Flamers and a lightning claw would be optimal. So I guess really it depends on the role you want them to play. Do you have plenty of anti-tank firepower? Or will you be relying on your assault squads to support your big guns? then Flamers are probably your best bet. Or is it more like you have some shortcomings in the AT department and want to give your list a boost? In that case, Meltas are the far and away best anti-tank choice in the SM arsenal.
