I just transitioned to Blood Angels after playing Eldar for a couple years, and I bought the battleforce box set to kick things off. I'm just looking for some opinions on what to equip the squad members in the box set. What I'm thinking right now is...
10 Marines, sergeant with plasma pistol, meltagun, multimelta
5 Death Company, power fist, infernus pistol
5 Assault Marines with jumpacks, sergeant with a power fist, meltagun
In the future I'm looking to build a balanced mech/footy army.
What do you guys think?
Welcome to Blood Angels! They are an awesome army to play and here's what I think about what you should put on each.
On the tactical squad I'd try and keep them as stock as possible except for giving them one to two meltaguns. If possible magnetize those arms so that way you can freely choose their load out.
On Death Company I'd try and keep them as stock as possible. Give them all Bolt Pistols and Chainswords unless you decide to give them a Power Fist or Thunder Hammer. When you do that just give them a Bolter since they already lose the plus one attack on the charge and they have relentless to boot. Also don't give them jump packs since its not really worth it to make Death Company expensive. Even if you were to place Lemartes in with them its better to have him moving at 6 inches than 12 since its very easy for your opponent to have a Land Speeder be chased around by DC and then DC does nothing.
Depending on how you use the Assault Squad the loadout looks good. If you intend to keep them as a five man squad the power fist might be a too much. On a 10 man squad though with Jump Packs its perfect. Meltas are always needed for every 5 Assault Marines so that's good.
Not much you can do with the Rhino its a shame its not a Razorback since Razorbacks are more effective for Blood Angels in my opinion.
Hmm, that army seems pretty balanced but I think it is lacking in anti-tank, with only a couple of missile launchers, the thunder hammer in the Death Company, the powerfist in the assault squad, and the furioso. I think more melta weapons would help out in the anti-tank capacity.
Lose the plasma pistol from the libby and give the tacticals meltas or plasmas instead of flamers.
Change the Baal preds flamestorm cannons into assault cannons.
There you got. Anti-tank is sorted and its still okayish list.
