i have a 1500pt deathwing lista and about 1000pts raven wing. i have started expanding this with normal marines. jump packs, tactical squads, vets, rhino's ect ect. the problem is i dont like the DA book for power armour.
i'v not made a list, im just buying and painting at this point in time. the problem is i like the way BA play, but dont like the army/fluff ect ect. just the rules.
would anyone have a problem playing a fully painted WYSIWYG DA army using BA rules?
I wont be proxying anything. no 'this is a death company' or 'this is a baal pred... just imagen it.' so no special BA units will be used. just vanilla choices. Also my HQ choices are captains and chaplains so no HQ proxy.
i also wont be skipping from codex to codex. this week SW because i want them to be. none of that. Just a nice looking 1st 2nd and 3rd company dark angels army with the blood angels rules and points costs.
this would obviously allow for no tactical advantage and would, if anything, limit my choices.
the only peice of proxy/conversion would be some sanguinary guard with all blood angels icons taken away and mixed with the DA upgrade pack to make some vanguard vets. again, only basic SM choices.
so what do you think?
Eh, I think you'd be better off using the vanilla book instead of trying to cherry pick some of the advantages from BA for your DA army.
I think picking what you like out of the BA codex is indeed gaining a tactical advantage especially over the DA codex, and somewhat over the standard codex. I would still play against you, but in my thoughts I would be shaking my head. It just doesn't seem right to paint Blood angels green.

@ Reality\cantrells, this is exactly why ive started to re-spray and re-paint my 2k point DA Army, the DA book sucks unless i play DW or RW (or both), so i always played vanilla angels, but like you, wearing DA colours and badges made me DA, so new colour old badges, but of fluff to say why we arent green and liked by our DA brothers, vanilla book and sweet as We are a new custom chapter, with DA bling
I'm building up a Blood Angels army that uses parts from Generic Marines, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Black Templar, Space Wolves and even a few Chaos Marine bits and painting them in a black, silver and grey scheme (with some red high lights here and there). I plan on using Death Company and Sanguinary Guards from time to time (depending on the points level). As long as your models of a specific unit type (such as Death Company) are consistant, have all their gear showing on them and you let your opponent know at the beginning of the game, I don't see why anyone should have a problem with running one set of models by the rules of a different codex or why you should have to ask permission to do that.
I ve been playing them as a vanillia dex most of the time myself. As long as you keep it consistent and inform your openent about it,i dont think there will be anyproblem, aside from a few surprised glances that is...
