It does not come as a surprise to anyone who's read my posts: I adore Inquisitors. I think they're one of the best units in our codex for their versatility. This post, however, concerns one of my favourite Henchmen: Deathcult Assassins.
And really, there's not much not love: They've got a lot of attacks, at a high initiative, and two power weapons to boot. They're even rockin' an invul save! However, ultimately, they're only toughness 3. The Toughness 3 I mitigate by having an equal number of crusaders (also awesome units. SS and power weapons? Yes please). 5 DCAs. 5 Crusaders. They make a scary unit: Tough to kill, and when in melee, they can cause some damage.
The problem is, I don't want them to just cause damage, I want them to wreck the opponent. I want these guys to almost put GKs to shame against some targets. I think I found a way to do so: Techmarine /w Rad Grenades.
They're an IC, they get hammerhand (yay!), and with Rad Grenades, DCAs are wounding T4 on 3s (guarnteed, or 2s if you go the more expensive/risky route).
Yes, the techmarine makes the squad almost the price of a GK squad, but the way I see it, I'm not afraid to charge this squad across open ground if I need to. Plasma cannons, whatever, it matters not. Invul saves all around (except for the tech marine, of course), but if that squad gets in melee, they're going to cause a *lot* of deaths. They're either going to be ignored (Pfft, T3 models), or draw a massive amount of fire (Oh god, burn it with fire).
So, that's my case for Deathcult Assassins. Techmarine or not, these gals rock!

they are str 4 so on there own they pack a punch. Im considering a unit of 6 with 4 DCA's and 2 crusaders in a psybolt razorback
Nothing more funny than 3 inquisitors with sanctify when facing deamons. They cant do anything while you stand in front of them having a tee break.
Preaching to the choir I've been running DCA's with a Techmarine now for a while. Rad and Psychotroke grenades are such fun! Don't forget that the Techmarine gets 2 PF attacks and PW attacks as well. I give him a Warding Stave to make him a bit of a nuisance in case of prolonged fights. (Though that is something you do NOT want!)
PigBenis69: pistol buff!
You: What's the magic word?
PigBenis69: stfu n00b
LtCariad, do you run them with Crusaders,or inside a transport?
I dont understand how the Str 4 DCA can be wounding toughness 4 models on 2's? Rad reduces Toughness by 1 but still thats only 3's??
Plus Hammerhand off the Inquisitor or Techmarine, that's 2's.

Sorry to have asked a stupid question, its just some strange people at a tournament I went to recentley would not let us GK players double tap hammerhand saying, and I quote "Hammerhand rules state that it gives the +1 str to the unit + any IC's, but if the IC casts it the unit does not benefit" now I tried to argue against it but the TO backed em up, so shut me down.
Now before anyone starts asking names and taking aim with there vindicares, this tournament was in a backward town full of backward people, so naturally all their rulings would be backwards also.
Thanks for stating the obvious, and making me feel a little better inside.
I still want to find an opportunity to hurl Valeria and 11 DCA or something similar, out of a chimera, into some termi-deathstars face :p
