I was considering adding Inquisitor (DH) allies in my IG armies as leaders of some units. I could give them some pretty good saves w/ power and/or terminator armor. I'm thinking of trying to add some powerful counters for my CC woes :hmm:

Karnov let all of us fulfil our repressed dreams of being a fat Russian man running around in the great outdoors and getting shot at by weird stone heads and crap. You didn't have a repressed fantasy about doing such marvelous things? Well, I don't believe you . . . [djpretzel]

I think Inquisitors have a higher cost to usefullness ratio in my opinion. *sigh* I remember when we could take Assassins without Inquisitors.

However as far as Grey Knights go, they are amazing and a much better deal then Ogryns. They pack a punch and are also decent in shooting if the need arises.
Armies:

40k: Dark Eldar, Eldar, Imperial Guard, Space Marines
Fantasy: Lizardmen, Skaven, Vampire Counts

So you don't think an Inquisitor stuck in a squad of IG would make them any more effective? I guess the armor save and stuff wouldn't matter until they were the last one anyone, but those force weapon attacks plus some Holocaust fun seems like it would make them think twice about charging there...

Force weapons at S3 and a template psychic power that will wipe out your own guys worse than most enemies you'd face aren't that great when you really try it. <_<

I've used DH allies in my guard army many times, as DH was my first army and I slowly acquired bits of IG. Inquisitors never really made much of an impact except when given some combat servitors and tooled up as counter assault. I did use some daemonhosts and various assassins with it though and the added cc ability worked out pretty decent.

i use a DH Inq Lord once in a while. but it's more for fun, and i like using DeathCultAssassins/Deamonhosts/Eversor.

really, the most *effective* IG army is a pure IG army.

you could easily spend 150-200 on Inq allie.
and as for GK, they are EXPENSIVE. you'd be looking at 300+

for the price of a Inq allie you could get a Russ
for the price of GK allie you could get 2 Russ!!

seriously, IG win by shooting. if you really wanna win, buy what suits them.

Yeah but I didn't really realize that when I started collecting this army, and if all I'm going to be doing ever is shooting I wouldn't play

In that manner I'm willing to throw away some winning percentage in order to have cool things like GK Terminator squads in my armies. I don't really like the idea of having no one who can stand to even face any other army in CC, and that's one reason I don't like these new rules compared to older ones I'd seen played with.

I guess I will just have to deal with the fact that anything but big guns doesn't pan out well for me, but if it costs me games I could have won by sitting, hiding, shooting and running away near turn 5 I think I'd rather go down in a hail of gunfire and power fists

hey i understand what you're saying. sometimes its just *more fun* to run in there and slug it out.

but don't think you need dedicated assult units to do that.

trust me, even if you went IG SAFH, and tried to avoid CC at all costs and shoot them like hell... you're still gonna end up in CC. and you're gonna find that those CC are gonna give you all the excitement you'd want

but if you want a nice CC touch, and are willing to give up some "optimum firepower" then sure take the Inq/Gk.

personally i prefer Inq. i don't like no "Super Humans" fighting. they're mutants if you ask me!

I just never trusted an army where 90% of the men were afraid to show their face unprotected on the battlefield. But hey, at least B-C Stern isn't afraid too and he's 1/5 of my GK Terminator squad so the odds are a little better.

If not an Inquisitor I've been anxious to stick Cypher into my army (of course if you were questioning GK units...ugh I'd hate to see what you think of him  ) in basically the same capacity as my Inquisitor, maybe joining with an Armored Fist Squad or something :shifty:

Also don't worry, I wasn't planning on mixing Cypher and DH units

*shudder*

sissy Space Marines and their "Power Armor".
real mean fight in with a piece of cardboard on their cest and a squirt gun in their hand!

who is the braver for facing the forces of chaos?
a genetically modified "super human" in powerarmor using the best weapons in the imperium?
or a bum from a hive world, armed with crap for armor and a glorified flashlight?

And they wonder why IG's leadership is so low!

I'd only take an inquisitor (and two mystics) if I wanted a Land Raider. Which hasn't happened yet.
