Hi, I was wondering which do you think is a better ordenance battery, the Medusa or the Basilisk?
The Medusa's high strength and bastion breacher shells are enough to kill any vehicle and troops alike with ease.
The Basilisk has only really worked for me when I'm using a more larger field then normal.
So I would go with the Medusa.
The Basilisk. It's the most versatile artillery piece and our best overall indirect-fire option. I'd rather use a Russ Demolisher than a Medusa; its resilience to damage results is well worth the additional cost. The Medusa's weak armor is okay if you're running a fully mechanized list, just because it get lost in the crowd of medium armor, but in a mixed or infantry list it's a serious liability.

Is "Neither" and option?
As stated, the Medusa does have a nice gun and the range is great. Problem is that it must fire directly, is open-topped, and low AV. Sure you can put the enclosed cabin (or whatever it's called) on it, but then it's almost the same price as a Demolisher which is much harder to kill and has the same gun. Sure you lose the range, but the Demolisher still has an effective 30" range while on the move and take a bigger beating.
Basilisk runs into some other probelms. Mainly the minumum range with is just stupid-easy to get inside of so you can't fire indirect. Yes, you can fire directly....but then you have the same problem as the Medusa; an AV12, open-topped, high-priority target in plain sight of the enemies guns. Not a good thing.
Personally I wouldn't field either of them. But if you are dead-set on either of the two, probably the Basilisk. Still don't think it's that good, though.
Ok, I thik I will use the demolisher instead. Do you know what are the best build for the demolisher and for the battle tank?
Nothing wrong with the Medusa as long as you build you list right. Obviously they are always going to be the highest on the target priority list. Well, unless you also get Vendettas and Chimeltas driving 12" way up into midfield early. Taking weak but high damage output units is fine, you just have to go balls to the wall.
