"Counter Assault" (3 KPs vs. 1 KP)
"Lightning Raid" (2 KPs vs. none)
"Death and Glory" (Destroy the Heavies)
I've got even MORE heroic accomplishment!
Okay, this isn't 100% serious thread, but the stories are 100% true. I've been using a somewhat untypical setup of Scouts and Land Speeder Storms for quite a while and it has worked great in my last three games. So, I thought I'd tell three stories of my favourite Scouts latest accomplishments and let you all vote which one was most awesome.
The setup in all three stories is same: 5 Scouts (CCWs, power weapon, melta bombs) in Land Speeder Storm (Assault Cannon)
Annihilation game vs. Imperial Guard
Scouts Squad Afrit comes on board along with quite a few other AV vehicles in Dawn of War deployments first turn and drives up to enemy infantry squad and heavy weapons with attached priest and comissar. Now the squad was forced to move due to earlier shooting and thus couldn't use their heavy weapons, so they decide to try and assault the Land Speeder Storm and manage to drop it out of the sky by a well-placed frag grenade. Scout Squad Afrit disembarks into nearby trench. Next turn they sneak closer to the infantry squad, open fire with their bolt pistols and manage to kill everyone else except the comissar and priest. So they charge the two fellows and kill both in first round of assault. Then they consolidate back into trench and sit there for the rest of the game. In the end they did not lose a single model in the game. Although their Speeder was wrecked (and yielded a kill point) they themselves killed one squad, priest and commissar for three kill points.
Annihilation game vs. joint force of Imperial Guard and Grey Knights
Scout Squad Lucius drives up to an AV 11 building where Imperial Guard platoon command squad is hiding. Nearby is a four men Grey Knight Strike Squad. Disembarking they assault the building and meltabomb it, causing it to explode and kill everyone except the lieutenant from the command squad. The Land Speeder Storm shoots at the Grey Knights, killing one. Next turn the lieutenant and the Grey Knights decide to assault the Scouts together. Grey Knights go for hammerhand, but the warp rumbles and justicar is lost in perils of the warp. The Grey Knights do manage to kill only one Scout and then the Scout sergeant Lucius deals swift justice with the powerblade, killing two more Grey Knights. Lieutenant fails leadership and is swept down, so next turn the four Scouts embark the Storm and ride away into safety, surviving the game with only that one casualty and getting two kill points out of the command squad and strike squad, while yielding none.
"Death and Glory"
Three objective game vs. Space Wolves
Scout Squad Afrit outflanks from reserve and assaults Long Fang missile launcher pack, killing one and losing three on assault. Their Speeder gets charged by Blood Claws and gets blown out but the explosion kills one Blood claw, purs wound on the attached Wolf Guard Battle Leader and kills the rest of Long Fangs. The two remaining Scouts then goes and meltabombs nearby Whirlwind, destroying its main weapon. The Whirlwind decides to tank shock, so sergeant Afrit goes for Death or Glory with melta bomb and wrecks the Whirlwind. The two Scouts are quickly shot after that, but their assault killed each and every heavy weapon the opponent had left, put wounds on Blood Claw pack and Wolf Guard Battle Leader and delayed the Blood Claws for one full turn... which turns out to be conclusive since the next turn my Tactical Squad (who had run last turn to get into position) wipe out the rest of the Blood Claws in one turn of shooting with melta, plasmacannon and bolters.
So there we go. Three heroic accomplisment of the many times underestimated "mini squads" of 10th company. Vote for the best heroic and feel free to tell your stories of how Scouts can save the day.

I think froma game perspective the last of the three, where they eliminated the heavy weapons and slowed the main assault unit was the most important... but there's a fluffbunny deep inside me somewhere shouting 'the first one! the first one!' so thats what I voted for. Maybe its just the images of them doing it so nonchalantly like its just a training drill in my mind

I chose the second:Blowing a building and its occupants under the noses of the GKs and then kill most of the GKs too?Thats just epic,5 scouts outsmart and gut the best warriors of the imperium.
And after this we continue to believe we have hope against chaos.....sigh....
Praise be to the Emperor!!
Very nice! I enjoy the surgical strike into the heart of the Space Wolf force. Very much the spirit of "Death or Glory!" I feel. And I always think of Scouts as that little brother whom you really want to see succeed, so it is touching to hear of some times that the little buggers made a difference! Hurrah!
"Confront them with annihilation, and they will then survive; plunge them into a deadly situation, and they will then live. When people fall into danger, they are then able to strive for victory." -Sun Tzu
Good stuff! Good Stuff! I run an entire 10th Company army supplemented with Dreads and Preds. Last game was a 2500pt vs Nids. He attempted to counter Infiltrate with 4 squads of Genestealers.... by turn 4 I had almost tabled him and he gave up. I love my Scouts.
Bravo!! My favorite is the Lightning Raid!! Blowing up the building then taking down the Grey Knights and doing a sweeping advance on the IG officer is just EPIC!!! Then they swoop away in victory!! YAY!!!
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Epic encounters all three, enjoyed reading them. Lightning raid gets my vote.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
lightning raid for my vote.
the other two are brilliant. however, getting there to blow up the bunker getting counter assaulted unsuccessfully (grey kniggits no less) then going back into the transport for a rinse and repeat somewhere else in the game.
That, is the way to play.
Ok fellows we have a difficult task, so we have to be more deadly than everyday.
Make mistakes and confuse the enemy - The Doctor
Tactics are nice but it is violence that wins the day.
